Dvd wizard pro is a rip off, it is just a collection of freeware bundled together. Many have fallen foul of this highly over-rated software!

for you this is a learning curve and yes you have been ripped off.But there is hope you are on the best site on the web for this type of multimedia back up, so explore a bit and you'll find some better programs to use and if you cant well we can point you in the right direction

@ nms33, Sorry you got ripped off Nick..
Just go to this link, read it really well and download the software it recommends:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide13.html

You will have No trouble ripping and backing up any DVD Movie that you try with it?

Happy burning?

For 2oldgeek,

I followed your link. It worked great until I popped my DVD+R into my dvd player and it said there was a disk error. Any ideas what this could be?

what brand media are you using?

nms33,

What was the Error that you received?
Did the Movie Rip and Shrink OK?
Did you use the option in Shrink to Burn using DVDDecrypter?
When did it fail?

What is the Brand of the Media (Disc) that you are using? Very Inportant..
What speed were you burning at?

Let?s see if we can figure it out?

Yes, DVD Wizard Pro is definetly not one of the better programs, if you got it then stop messing around with it and get DVD Cloaner III, you wont be disapointed. It is also important to have good amount of RAM. Most DVD burning programs will say 256RAM is enough but software companys always go low just to get the extra sales. I would recomend at least a 1GRAM 2200+ Prossesor. Use a good burner also, NEC 3550A is a great burner for the $. Make sure your hard drive has at least 10G of space open or you can run into reading problems. It is likely that all of the problems stated above are not all attributed to the software. Its alays easyer to blame problems on the software rather than your computer. If DVD cloaner III dosn't perform well for you then it's the hardware.

You will not find many, if any, people who recommend Dvd cloner 3 around these parts, it is a rip off of CloneDvd2!

CloneDvd2 & AnyDvd by Slysoft are probably the best combo out there. Loved by all that use it.

I agree with you pulsar,
And since this forum is mainly to help Newbies, I normally only recommend the Free and proven software so they have no up front cost to getting started. Then can decide on something to invest in after becoming familiar with the basic process of burning a disc..

Sorry to stray away from the subject of DVD Wizard. But what becides DVDCloner3 being a huge Biter off CloneDVD2 makes it not as good as CloneDVD2. I got DVDCloner3 because I read in some forums that CloneDVD2 has slight compression problems, that and it cost about twice as much. What are the drawbacks of DVDCloner3 because all I've had is flawless copys so far.

McAndrews,
There will always be conflicting opinions on any product out there?
If it works for you, then don?t worry about what is said about it?.. LOL

@ McAndrews, as the above says, stick to what works for you! Just trying to give you options, not to keen on all these comparison doo daa's. I am always sceptical as to their independancy.
All I know is that 99.99% of people who use CloneDvd2 & AnyDvd , use it to great effect, I love it. AnyDvd does much more then de-crypt, makes your drives region free, by-passes this Sony rootkit malarky...removes macrovision.

"know but i did try it and it does work to a degree"

That's my point, CloneDvd2 just seems to work effortlessly, I hate it when an app only works spasmodically, I run out of patience very quickly when something does not work first time & everytime!

The choice is entirely yours!

2oldgeek,

The disc error read "Disk Error: The playback feature may not be available on this disc. Please eject disc."

Yes, the Shrink and Movie Rip were ok.

Yes, I burned using DVD Decrypter.

It seemed to be working fine until I put it in the DVD player but, I don't think it works on my computer either.

The brand I'm using is Memorex DVD+R.

I think I used the speed it said on your link.

Thanks for the help,
Nick

try changing those memorex to ritek, TY's or even verbs as they are more durable and reliable than the ones you are currently using

nms33,
Like andmerr suggested, get some better quality discs.
If you search the forum, you?ll find that Memorex are NOT ever recommended?
If you can?t find Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden locally, then Maxell and TDK (made in Japan) should work ok. At least Better Than Memosux!

Give it a try and Happy Burning?
