Hello experts and learners!

I have Drawn Together season one in about 14 AVI files. I need to convert them all to MPEG2 format so they can be feeded to DVDLab application for DVD authoring and menu creation. (Episode selection).

DUE to DVDlabs inability to accept AVI input, I first need to get them to MPEG2. Question: Which program would convert multiple AVIs to MPeG2 without major loss of quality?

Last night I have tried doing that with TMPEGenc with setting set as highest motion search (slowest). The quality of MPEG1 file I got was much worse than the original AVI. Besides, this method of converting multiple files is time consuming, as conversion must be done one by one. Could I have set the app up improperly, which could result is poor quality? Possible references to another applications wich would do the job right are appreciated.

Wrong. Save many .TPR projects (with different output filenames), do File___Batch Encode, load all the .TPR files, click [run] and go to sleep.

Otherwise, buy a DVD player capable to accept AVI files and burn a data disk containing all your AVIs (a DVD-ROM, for instance). Provided the AVI can be read and their audio is 48 kHz (or you'll have to transcode their audio and substitute it in the AVI that have 44.1 kHz sound, instead) you've made it. No quality and no time loss.

mpeg-1 will give you crap anyhow, and trying to squeeze 14 episodes onto one disk makes it even worse.
At best, you'll get 3 or 4 episodes per disk, in watchable quality, using MPEG-2 at Half D1.

Black holes are where God divided by zero...
Cheers, Jim
