Hello, I am new to the forums. I have just joined afterdawn - it seems to be really helpful. I am having some problems with backing up my DVD. The Longest Yard - I purchased recently, I would like ot create a backup but I am having trouble with doing so. I am new to this and is very difficult. It has copyright protection and I do not know how to get around this. Someone told to use DVD shrink but I do not know how to. I tried using Alcohol 120% but the decoding reached 7% then encountered and error due to the copy protection. Nero would not allow it either. I tried decrypting the movie with DVD Decrypter but again encountered and error. Could someone please help me with this.

Thank you.

Some of these free programs are great programs but aren't being updated anymore and their are new copy protections being put on discs all the time. AnyDVD is the best decrypter and handles all the new copy protection. You can try it for free for 21 days before you have to purchase it but it is well worth the money. Once you purchase it, you get free updates. You can get it at
http://www.slysoft.com I have DVD Shrink and AnyDVD and it handles virtually all the new protection. Here is the link to the guide on how to use DVD Shrink http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shr...
DVD Shrink works well with Nero to burn, it's pretty easy to use, the guide will take you through it step by step, good luck.

First off welcome to AD. I can tell you are at the right place for help.

I did this movie with DVD Fab as well and then Shrinks. Worked great. Have had very few movies DVD Fab could not do. The trial version of AnyDVD is great. Great program. Well worth the cash.

The Programs I have, relating to this, are DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD, Clone DVD2, DVD Shrink, Alcohol 120% and Nero.

Hi Ssjgojita,
I heard you had encounter problems trying to copy " The Longest Yard ".Well I used the DVDFAB Express 29 software to copy this movies and is very users friendly. All you need to do is put the movie into the DVD Rom or your DVD Rewriter and then you open the DVDFAB software. When you open up the software you will see Source and Target. You send the movie to the Target where your folder is.You have to click on the box with 3dots and the folder will open and you just need to send it to wherever you want to store your movie. When you finished doing that just click on the Start button and it will decrypt the movie. It takes at least 45mins to an hour to decrypt the movie. When the movie is done then you used Shrink 3.01 to shrink it to 4.35G so that you can copy it into the normal size DVD disc.

Hello, thank you again for all the help I really appreciate it. I used DVD Fab Express and it has worked however I did not use DVD Shrink. So the DVD required two discs. I will remember to use that next time thank you very much.
After I have used DVD Fab to decrypt the movie what do I do on DVD Shrink to bring the file size down?

Thank you.

EDIT://
Hello, everyone I am now just stuck on the part about putting the movie on one disc. I used DVD Fab to decrypt the DVD but it was done in to two disks as it is around 7 to 8 gigabytes big. What do I do in DVD Shrink?

Thanks

Open DVD Shrink and choose the Open Files Icon. Navagate to where the Video_TS folder containg the results of the Fab Decryptor run. The choose to Shrink everything or for better results, Re-Author and main movie only. Eliminate subtitles and language soundtracts that are unecessary and Backup to blank disk. Read the guides suggested by Afterdawn.

Thank you for the repl.y I have been reading the guides but I would like to create a full disc copy however the DVD is around 7 - 8GB and I only have 4.7GB disks. Is there still a way to put the whole thing on a 4.7GB disk?

Thank You.

Here is the guide for DVD Shrink

http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP%20WITH%20SHRINK.pdf

You can create a full disk backup using this program. All you need to do is open your file and then use the full disk backup button on the toolbar.

Edit just noticed all the programs you have, you also should be able to make a full backup using any number of these programs. AnyDVD along with CloneDVD or Nero Recode will also make a full disk backup for you

Yes, that's what Shrink does it shrinks!
Results will be better, easier, and faster if you eliminate uneeded subtitles, soundtracts etc. Use high qulaity blank disks and don't burn right to the outer edge of the disk. In Shrink prefernces, instead of DVD-5, choose custom and enter a number such as 3350. This will keep you burn off the edge. Also consider Deep Analysis option - takes much longer but quality will improve if a lot of shrinking needs to be done.

That is a little too much shrinkage, more like 4300 to 4364.

The movie The Longest Yard has Sony ARccOS on it. You should be able to rip this movie by either using AnyDVD in the background and Shrink. If you have the movie you can do it this way or rip it with DVDFab Decrypter. Are the files on your HDD and did you rip in file mode or iso mode with Decrypter?

If you used DVD Fab Gold, doesn't that compress the movie while you are ripping? What is the size of your file,?

@ssjgojita

I'm surprised that you are having trouble using AnyDVD and Clone2DVD. I used these 2 programs to copy The Longest Yard and I had no problems at all. I only copy the main title and not all of the trailers stuff. BTW, when I first started burning, I printed out and used guides from bbmayo & ScubaPete. Excellent guides.
