I've been reading about VOB Blanker in this forum, but I would like someone to help step me thru the procedures to copy my DVD that I can't seem to copy using DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink.

Don't get too technical, Please.

My problem is with copying The Cave.

Thanks a lot.

Alkohol's guide list the exact way to rip this, but i have had success with the poor mans, idiot method.. Here how it works for me. I ran in to a movie that CloneDVD2 said had an error in it's IFO structure. I opened VOB Blanker, and supplied the input path, output path, and hit proceed. Blanker took about 15 minutes to process the files. Opened the blanker processed files, and it worked perfectly. The same thing worked for me on Madagascar. Ripped it to HD using DVD Decrytper, Processed the Decrypter files with VOB blanker, and opened the VOB Blanker processed files with shrink as normal. I never had to go to specific cells, or import PSL files. Maybe i got lucky. Supply 2 things (input path- where the files are on the HD) Output path - Rename so you can find it easily. Hit Process!! tab and let it do it's thing.. It is that easy for me.. :)

Here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip is the latest version from VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 (this version is more advanced, more stronger to handle ARccOS and RipGuard or any fake/bad cells/pgcs/sectors). In addition, it has a built in video screen, so you can just simply click on any VTS_XX_*.VOB or PGCs and "blank" them, if it's nothing related to the movie (or movie file).

If you don't know what to "blank" or take out/edit, then all you need to do is follow the folowing simple steps:

<><> set "your input" <====== this is your source aka VIDEO_TS folder that your ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F earlier.

<><> set "your output" <===== this is your new VIDEO_TS folder, **NOTE: you will have to encode/transcode this with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice).

<><> now click PROCESS (that's it... sit back and wait until VobBlanker process and filter out any encrypted protections (ie bad/fake cells, pgcs, sectors, etc.), VobBlanker should take anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes depending on how big is the movie files.

<><> now import your new/clean/fresh VIDEO_TS folder into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 and the rest is history. **NOTE: this is your new VIDEO_TS folder that VobBlanker has successfully processed and filtered out junks already only, not your first ripped VIDEO_TS folder that you ripped it from DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter.

Another useful tool is PgcEdit with PSL2 plugin and FixVTS (this tool is as strong as VobBlanker, but you can't "blank" out any unwanted scenes such as fbi warning, unwanted previews/trailers, etc. However, it will handle (filter out) craps, junks, bad/fake cells, pgcs, sectors flawlessly.

Enjoy it!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

@Maxburn buddy,

It's OK to just click PROCESS and VobBlanker will take care of the rest. YES, it will process and filter out junks, craps, bad/fake cells, pgcs, sectors, etc. by itself. The reason I "blank" out some PGCs is only because I want to and I know that that's the fake cells is(are) inserted on, plus I want to get rid of that annoying fbi thingie.

Max, you should get the latest VobBlanker version 2.1.0.0 (it's extremely useful, powerful), it even has a built in video screen on the right corner now (automatically preview anything when you click on any VTS_XX_*.VOB or PGCs) and the good thing is... it's FREE. Get it while it lasts, here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip

Thanks Alkohol buddy, I have the older version, but will get the new one. I found it very easy to use, but it does look complicted when you first see the program. I had seen you mention about a preview screen before, and figured it was something i hadn't figured out on the old blanker program.
Everyone, don't get scared by VOB Blanker. Its a great program, and becoming one of those "MUST HAVE" programs for DVD work.

@MaxBurn buddy,

The older version, you'll have to click on specific VTS or PGC and click on Preview, then play, or you can just double click on any PGCs and press preview on the right, then play.

Yes, I definitely think the latest version VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 is better and more advanced + the small built in player on top right corner.

Have fun messing around with it. I'm still learning too, so don't feel bad alright, buddy.

I just DL'd it from the link, and it looks great! Can't wait to try it on a Sony Arccos or Rip Guard.. LOL. Unstoppable hunh? That screen makes it a much more useful program, but it was already very good before the update. I never figured out how to play the stuff with the older version, just worked by command line, so to speak. Most of the time when i used it, i would just do the input, output folders and hit the process button. That was good enough for me. I may even dis-able AnyDVD on the next protected movie, just to watch it do its thing. AnyDVD makes it too easy for me to get a copy. Never fails.
