This is beguining to frustrate me.
I had to rip Sky High to my hard drive as an ISO file, before running through DvD Shrink. Now, when I load up dvd shrink, every thing is fine. I remove the audio and subs I don't want, remove the previes(frees up 200 mb!) and start encoding to ISO, burn with DVD Decrypter. At 20% encoding, I am running at about 910 MB buffered, and my computer freezes up, to where I have to hold down the power button to restart. It has done this to me before with other dvd images.
On the Brothers Grim, I did the same thing, but loaded it into Daemon Tools first, becaues I didn't know DVD Shrink could open up the image =S.
Is there any thing I can do to stop it from buffering so much? I am literally running out of memory(I have 1 gig)!

i had that problem with sky high too, seems alot have had that problem.
anyway, its the copyright protections in my opinion doin it.
try this...
since decrypter is no longer updated...
try programs such as anydvd dvd43 dvdfab you should be able to click those if not, i'll edit them.
also, clean out uneeded junk in the hard drive, defrag, and download those programs, one or all.
use anydvd, but it is a 21day trial program, but well worth it, buy it later on... it updates fast..

ATTN: for those that don't have the latest from AnyDVD
The best/simple way is to have VobBlanker "BLANK" out PGC 2 and PGC 3 of VTS_01_*.VOB, then "PROCESS" and you'll have a successfully working full disc within 45 minutes. I guarantee you..!! Again, that is what I did and it works for me -- got the full disc, tested/watched it and it plays flawlessly.
Here's what you need to do: All tools are FREE, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, it's 100% success.
<><><> TOOLS NEEDED <><><>
<> DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 or DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8
<> VobBlanker version 2.1.0.0, here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip
<> rip it with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F
<> or rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter
<> open up VobBlanker, (A) set your input <==== this is your already ripped VIDEO_TS files from DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter. (B) set your output <==== this is your new VIDEO_TS folder inside hard drive, (for exampel: create a new folder name NEW SKY HIGH and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS). (C) click on VTS_01_*.VOB and "BLANK" out PGC 2 & PGC 3, click "PROCESS" -- now sit back and relax it will be done shortly, about 10 minutes.
<> import your NEW SKY HIGH, VIDEO_TS folder into DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice) and just encode it as your usual shrinking process.
<> now burn that baby (SKY HIGH) with any of your burning engines. (That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey).
Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!!

I've experienced the 'Out of memory error' with a few newer titles that are out. If you rip the movie with CloneDVD2 first to the hard drive, then run the video files through DVD Shrink, this should work fine. Every movie I've gotten the memory error with during DVD Shrink worked fine after I ripped it with CloneDVD2 to the hard drive first. Let me know if this works.

Yes, it will work on all dvds, even new release (regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS), as long as you ripped it with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter (the latest) successfully into the hard drive first, then the rest is piece of cake.
My method has never let me down, either ripped the movie (any new release) with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter into the hard drive, then have VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 to "blank" out fbi warning craps and junks (fake cells, pgcs, sectors, etc.) and PROCESS. **NOTE: usually when DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 says; "out of memory error", then this is usually a RipGuard Protection or bad/fake cells that was encrypted into the dvd.
So far, I've never ran into any issues whatsoever. No AnyDVD or DVD43 required, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, 100% success.
Again, here's what I usually do:
<><> rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F to hard drive
<><> or rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter (latest version) to hard drive
<><> VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 to "process" and "filter" out junks.
<><> encode/transcode with Nero Recode 2 (Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode)
<><> burn that baby with Nero Burning Rom, or your desire burning engines.
100% success, no hustle, no freeze, no black screen, no AnyDVD, no DVD43.
Enjoy it!!

i think you should start up a paypal site alkohol and start taking donations !! your guides are the sh!t and the time you spend to teach people is duely noted (by me) and the one's who appreciate it... then there are others that just come in for the quick fix and leave no comments or even return..
we all know who you are alkohol, and without you here, there would be too many n00bs that are clueless!!!
i think all in this thread should take the time to personally thank alkohol for providing his time, patience, skill, and knowledge.. after all, he is doing this in his own free time and expects nothing in return..
anyway, alkohol, i found out why my Nero 7 did not give me that option, it still showing up as the demo version...

I thought you said you've got it all sorted out with Nero 7? I'm at work now, but I'll be home soon (approximately 1 hr) and I'll post some of my screen shots? If you needed help, then don't hesitate to hollar at me via my email, you've got my email already buddy.
What do you see when you lauched Nero StartSmart and click on the Nero Product? Does it still says "Nero 7 Demo" or "Nero 7 Ultra/Premium"? Or when you go START, PROGRAMS, Nero 7, does it says Nero 7 Demo or 7 Ultra/Premium? I need to know what it says here.

I did exactly what you said, and it worked! Thank you! I will now have to try this with Brothers Grim...
It was freaking me out when ever I encoded! If I read the DVD from my hard drive, as an ISO image(riped by DVDDecrypter and the latest AnyDVD) and, as we can see when it encodes it buffers the file, I watched the buffer go up to 1.5 gigs one night! Then I did what you said, and it never toped 200 mb! Thanx again!

Here's one of my old mini guide for "The Brothers Grimm". I used this method and it works 100%. If you do as the following steps, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too. **NOTE: VobBlanker (version 2.1.0.0 is the one you need to solve your misery from RipGuard or ARccOS), this one is more powerful and stronger than it's last version. So, if you don't know WHAT/WHERE to BLANK, then just click on PROCESS and you'll be fine as well.
I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then used VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.
<><><> TOOLS NEEDED<><><>
<> DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0
<> or DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8
<> VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2100_exe.zip
***Here's what you need to do***
**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.
1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.
or 1.1) rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 to your hard drive.
2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier (for example: BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS), then click OPEN. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK
3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.
4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some vodka.
Good luck... happy burning!! Live each and learn.

VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 WON'T WORK if you have DVD Decrypter ripped the movie as an ISO (or any ISO files). VobBlanker ONLY WORK if your ripped the movie(s) in MODE, File F (to create a VIDEO_TS folder) with DVD Decrypter only. Or if you have the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter (2.9.6.8) or any DVDFAB Decrypter that can rip the movie easily, then it will work beautifully as well.
To solve your problem: Now let's have DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 re-rip your ISO in the hard drive, but this time, do this:
<> open up DVD Decrypter, MODE, File F
<> set your source <=== browse to your hard drive and look for your old ISO (that's already ripped as an ISO file)
<> set your destination <=== browse to your hard drive. **NOTE: before ripping again with DVD Decrypter, you should make a new folder name SKY HIGH and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS on your hard drive, EXIT out.
<> click on DECRYPT (sit tight and wait until DVD Decrypter is done)
Now you can go back and delete your old SKY HIGH iso file, and finally you can follow my mini guide above.
Good luck at ripping and burning!!

You're welcome. I have both of the movies you mentioned (SKY HIGH and BROTHERS GRIMM) on this thread with a basic/simple mini guide. So all you need to do is get the tools I've mentioned above, then follow the steps carefully and you'll be fine.
Good luck!!

Yes, VobBlanker is pretty powerful to "blank" out junks or filter out craps, bad/fake cells, sectors, pgcs or protections that were encrypted onto the movie. Keep in mind that NOT EVERY movie(s) can be backup (transcode/encode/shrink) with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2, even if it was SUCCESSFULLY ripped with DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter. Therefore, VobBlanker is the ONE and ONLY you'll need to solve this problem.
I've been using VobBlanker roughly 5 months now and so far, it has never let me down. The good thing is that, it's FREE.
Good luck at ripping and burning!!
