I found out something weird today.. I used dvd fab express to rip "surviving christmas" to the HDD.. went to use shrink and no matter what I tried wouldn't work.. so then I used vob blanker thinking that'd sort it out.. Nope!!! So finally re-ripped the dvd to HDD just using dvd decryper and it works no problem.
So, I guess the best order to try things in is:-
dvd decrypter first..... and then if that doesn't work try
dvd fab express... then if still having problems try
Vob blanker
I guess dvd fab express doesn't work mith macrovision encryptions? yet the older dvd decrypter does.. weird!
I've heard a lot about DVD Fab Express, but I have never used that program before. However, I've used DVDFAB Decrypter (which is a ripper) and it has never let me down. I honestly, believe that both DVD Decrypter (from LUK) and DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE from www.dvdidle.com) are very useful. If one can not rip it, the other will.
Honestly, either I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F or DVDFAB Decrypter into the hard drive first. Then "blank" and "process" through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 and encoded/transcoded with either DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2. So far, that method has never let me down, 100% success.
I know you have DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 already, but if only you haven't got the latest from these 2, then feel free to.
Supposely, the new VobBlanker is more stronger and it can process and filter out any craps/junks ie bad/fake cells or protections that DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB skipped (did not completely cracked yet).
Catch ya later at the PS2 forum buddy -- happy burning!!

Yeah, they're the ones I already have Alkohol thanks anyway :)
- the problem wasn't the ripping as such, both dvdfab and DVD Decrypter ripped to the hdd... the problem was that there were glitches etc on the rip with dvd fab and that was the one I used first.... more below
This is only the second problem I ever had with a movie to be honest.. and it was mostly down to me using a different method from usual.
I usually just use DVD Decrypter to rip the files to hdd and then use shrink.
yesterday I had trouble with a movie that had sony protection on it "the longest yard" and had to use dvdfab express(decrypter).. it says both on the console???... that's the version you gave a link to too.
so today I figured "hell I might as well just use dvdfab to begin with and save myself some trouble if it's got protection on this" - how wrong was I.. lol. got the movie to hdd, then tried shrink... nope didn't like that.. tried several different things, still nothing and in the preview window showed the movie as glitchy etc.
so then tried VOB blanker.. then shrink.. still glitchy etc in preview... after trying several more things and lots of cursing, LOL.. i decide to try my usual method of DVD Decrypter, i thought "what the hell, can't hurt to try" - worked perfectly, preview window in shrink showing the movie as it should, encoded and burned without a glitch.. perfect copy....
so I figured dvdfab doesn't like macrovision encryption? and from now on will do it my usual way until I run into a problem, then use dvdfab and VOB blanker if I have to.
Just trying to help out some newbs who might make the same mistake I did and used dvdfab decrypter first.. and then get faults in shrink etc.
Always use DVD Decrypter first, and then if having problems use dvdfab decrypter.
I still use Shrink first and have it set for auto burn with Decrypter. If I encounter a problem or by reading this forum I find a problem one, then I will rip with Fab Decrypter first(I use a seperate folder called "Fab Movies" for those ripped with Fab). Then I open Shrink as usual and select open files instead of open disk and go to Fab Movies/DVD/Video_TS and select. This is what works for me flawlessly. I have used many other methods including ripping with Decrypter, but now with DVDFab Decrypter ripping the problem ones, no need to rip with Decrypter.
