Take a clip from ripped DVD

I want to take a 10 minute clip from a DVD and insert into a Powerpoint as an introduction to playing the whole of the original DVD.

Ive ripped the original DVD using Mac The Ripper, but am now unsure as to what programme would be the simplest to use, in order to extract the clip.

Also unsure as to what format to save the clip into. Avi, or quicktime, or Windows media player. The powerpoint will be run on a Win XP system.

Hope ive posted this in the right place.
