OK this might seem like a really dumb question but here it goes anyways. This is the first time I attempted to burn a DVD. So I took all the advie found walk throughs to help me out I used the comcast site. Did everything it said i put it through DivXtoDVD, DVDShrink, And then DVD Decripter. When i put it in my DVD player nothing happened Just said loading. Is there something im missing? The DVD I used was a Sony DVD-RW 4.7. And I Burnt it at 2x. Also when i burnt the ISO image it was called LOW_FICO_CD1_AVI__LOW_FICO_CD2.ISO. Thats all i can tell u i think. I dont know much, all the adves would be appreciated.
Thanks

Was it a stand alone set top DVD player for TV viewing? These4 do not play DVD RWs unless booktyped to DVD-ROM.
Does the disk play in the computer using the drive that burned it? Can you see the files in Windows explorer?

No i just put it in the drive and it doesn't play in that also. I looked and you can not see the files either. So i must have went wrong somewhere. My DVD player is a Electrohome model HTB903E.

Yep. I would consult the guides for the type project you wabt to do and try again. Sounds like the data files never got on the disk.

Make sure your burning program is set up to do an actual burn and not just a "test".

@ matlock... if you have DVD Decrypter, then open it up, at the top, select tools, then the drop down, select drive, then select capabilities..
not only will it tell you what media the burner supports, but it will aslo tell you what the make and model is... then send us that info, (the burner info) that is..

I read an article about my burner and everything should be turning out fine but still nothing is showing up on my DVD's when Nero says its completed. So is it the movie itself.

Hi.

Your burner's firmware is way out of date.
Quote:
NU DVDRW DDW-082 B373

The new version is B377, you can get it here:

Also, make sure you take your time when you follow those guides . You obviously missed a step somewhere. What you're trying to do is pretty advanced for someone that never burned before.

May i just add that IMHO Nero is probably the easiest app to burn AVI's onto DVD's, not only that you also get a burn log out of it, which in this case would help us a lot out here.

well, its a long log, better get me a snickers !!!

here we go, for starters...
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
nero is outdated... update to the latest, which is 6.6.0.18
Quote:
Recorder: <NU DVDRW DDW-082> Version: B377
its up to date, i verified it..
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : AD3651S CZO084T 1.0 dtscsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
needs to be turned on.. (gwendolin has the link)
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
although this contradicts itself... your burn is set to burn too close to the edge, back it up to about 4300mb
Quote:
Physical memory : 511MB (523756kB)
Free physical memory: 181MB (185936kB)
Memory in use : 64 %
your lacking in the memory department and using too many of the cpu's resources while doing so. i'd suggest get some more ram, but in the meantime, defrag, clean out the hard drive some, free up some space.. and close down applications while you use nero..
Quote:
Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD)
to me, that looks like you have it set to burn a cd and not a dvd !!
Quote:
Burn process started at 2x (2,770 KB/s)
not that this is a problem, but you can jump up to 4x... you are using ritek made media... code is R01
Quote:
Disc Manufacturer: RITEKW - 01
buti dont use media that old,,, where you got it, i dunno !

i use ritek, but the R03 and G05 codes..

mainly, what you need to do, update nero... first
then try it again...
then do the other steps i pointed out..

when you update nero here...
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

make sure you only install the first 2 updates

then use this to make double sure you dont have InCd, your log does not show it, but just in case... use this...

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

oh, do me a favor, edit out your log post.... from this line to this line... its all repeated junk anyway...

Alright i did everything but change the burn i dont know exactly where to change that, you say its too close. I have followed gwendolin link my CdRomPeripheral : AD3651S CZO084T 1.0 dtscsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA in Nero info tools now says autorun on. I cleaned up my cpu, and now have Nero 7 instead of 6. So the only things now i need to know is how to changet he burn setting and im not sure why it looked like i was burning a cd i had it all on DVD. I hope this finally fixes my problem :).

so did you have a successful burn then? if not, set the setting in Nero from burm/write to simulate, rather then wasting a disk, just in case, then run it thru... see what happens.. if it produces a log, paste it back here again..
the log reveals all... and helps me much better.
as far as chaning the burn length.. at the final step, there is an options tab, click that and it will have the setting there. just before the burn.. you can configure it that way, even run 2 passes to verify just to make sure...
