After having my interest peaked by some of the recent DL threads, I bought some of the Fuji DL's today at Best Buy. Currently on sale this week for $9.00 for a three pack.

I burned 3 backup movies tonight on the media without a hitch. As many of you, I usually use Verbatim media for DL. I actually watched one of the movies all the way through on my Phillips 642 standalone DVD player (which I love --- it plays everything). No problems.

Now for the disk ID. I expected it to be Ricoh. I was wrong. The ID says: RITEK D01

So now the cat's out of the bag as to the manufacturer. Having said that, I had no problems. Burned on an older Sony DRU 700A -- updated firmware yesterday.

One more honorable mention: I bought NTI's CD/DVD burning software (V. 7.x) last week. We've used the old "Professional" version at work for the last 6 years, mostly becuase it was very reliable and anyone could use it. Always been pleased and anyone could do it. Anyway, NTI has their latest verion out now and have added DL support, have a shrink funtion, and my favorite --- DVD Video_TS.

I rip with DVD Decrypter, then go to NTI. Just click the Video_TS button, browse to the ripped folder and highlight all files. NTI then does the rest. It couldn't be any easier. I must say, it's less confusing to use (for new users) than the Nero I've been using the last couple years. I've made about 10 DVD's this way and each has been perfect. If you're looking for real simple that works, hard to beat this program.

hi,

good to see your having similar success as i have with Ritek D01 DLs :) i only have the Ridata Ritek branded kind, but i have had ZERO coasters using my Sony dru-710a (BYX5 firmware) burning onto these Ritek manufactured DLs~ 70+ at this point using Ridata Riteks :)

continue using what's been working FOR YOU, i'm glad that i'm not the ONLY one that has success with these Ritek DVD+R DLs...i usually use the Verbatim DVD+R DLs, made in singapore, too; but, at least from my own experience, these Ritek ones would be my 2nd choice~

happy burnin..

Well, I may have spoken too soon. While all three of my movies finished recording successfully, apprently all is not well. I played one of them through last night and about 3/4 way through there were problems. I seemed to hit a problem area --- it hesitated and skipped several times in a 5 minute period. Seems to me this is probably a manufacturing issue, not just the change from L0 to L1. I'm going to return the other 3-packs I bought today and stick with Verbatim.

Dog gone-it, I really wanted these to work. . . .

@teflonmyk

if this was say, 3 months ago, i would have jumped on your offer in a heartbeat, but since then is then, and now is now...i have about 800 pieces left unburned in the Verbatim DVD+R DLs... :) yes, within the last couple months since they were going for $19.99/10 pack, i've gotten quite a few from out of state through buddies of mine here on AD and a few packs locally...

all in all, these Verb DLs are very good, lemme know how those printables work out for you...good luck
