I had 3 burnt game disks i used to play with my roomate's modded bulky ps2, they all worked fine. Then just recently i got magic swap to work with my own slim ps2. The problem is, out of all three games only one of them works, one got a "not a valid ps2 disk" and one simply got a black screen. I know its prob due to the dvd format, but i always thought MS is the same as a modchip, besides the few games with dummy files, was i wrong or simply unlucky?
Also im one of the few unfortunate souls who dont have access to a dvd burner, so i have to go to my local chinatown and buy pre-burnt games, so does anyone know a way to check if a game will work or not.
The games are probably on cheap media, so your ps2 cant read them (some games are harder to read than others, which is probably why only 1 works). You can get a good dvd burner for $50 off pricewatch (pioneer 110).
Thnx. The thing is, if the dvd burner works by itself ill get it in a second. Unfortunately you need to have a decent computer along with a good internet, which will cost a lot more than just $50.
I know the media must be cheap, but they did work very well on a modded ps2, but not so with magic swap, so could MS somehow be more sensitive than a modchip?
What kind of media are you using? What's the media ID? Swap Magic is a good product, but I'd hardly say it's as good as a quality modchip.
91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id... Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
