Well sondoobie I hate to be the one to break this to you - but x copy is pretty worthless. Most of us on this board started out w/ xcopy and jumped ship.
Here's some free program to use:
DVD Fab Decrypter
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
Not Free:
AnyDVD & Clone DVD - imo best combo out there - so far there's nothing it can't get past.
Here's a link to guides to use the programs and where to dl them:

We seem to be going in circles. DVD Xcopy Platinum cannot handle some of the newer protected movies. You would be better off trying other programs. If you are determined to use this antiquated program then try using it in conjunction with AnyDVD which will break the enctyption and DVD Xcopy should then be able to backup your movie. There is a 21 day trial of the program, so try it out. Available at http://www.slysoft.com It is a driver that works in the background, it will appear as a redfox in you tray, if the fox is red it is working, if greyed out it is not. Open the program put your movie in give it a few seconds to work and then open Xcopy and proceed.

@sondoobie
What brand of discs are you using? It also sounds like your drive doesn't like them. Definitely dump the x copy - and try the other progs - less headaches!

no you said you had one other program, so i assumed that you had more than one program.

You might also like to give us the run down on your pc stats, antiquated programs run very well on antiquated machines.Just want to see if your pc can handle working with the newer programs etc

Sounds as if Xcopy is not recognizing the drive, this can be a pain. Did you choose the drive in the program before you started? Also if you want to learn more about this program then try the Xcopy forum they will give you plenty of info and help.
