I got mine to work, make sure if u have a firewall to let the xbox connect, if u have the windows firewall bring it down, keep in mind that it will only play mp3's at the moment from what i have tried. It wont play ACC4 audio.

P.S

I'm also runing xp sp2 with WMC i dont have Win media center edition.
make sure u also click on start sharing.

Go to the start menu, click run. Type "services.msc".
In the services, find SSDP Discovery Service.
If it's diasbled, enable it and put it to automatic.
After it has started, go to Universal Plug & Play and do the same thing, making sure it is on automatic.

Reboot your modem and your router. Then reboot your pc. Turn on your 360.

Make sure you have the XBOXXPSP2-ENU.exe file and reinstall windows media connect.

Then try and see if your 360 can find and stream your music.

That's how I got mine to work on a "non genuine" Windows XP SP2.

Last resort. Format and re-install Windows. Install the updates, then windows media connect. It will work then.

I had this problem, finly I called Microsoft and spoke with a gal in the US. She had me up and runing in 5min. All you need to do is call befor 50PM western time and you will talk to someone in the US.

All I had to do was download a driver that Microsofts website didn't tell me about and turn off my firewall (ZoneAlarm)

It worked fine.

I will try to see if I can find a link to that driver.

@Domreis - i'd request you don't post until you reinstall; i'm deleting all the pages of clone posts, and i'll no doubt get a tap on the shoulder due to my internet usage (they count every webpage click as a minute at work)

hi, i'm using windows xp media centre rollup package 2. its not "genuine". ive tried installing both the media centre media connect and service pack 2 media connect, but when i install it doesnt ask me to put in the code it tells me on the xbox 360, it sometimes just ends the installation, and sometimes gives me troubleshooting options, i have Zone Alarm (not pro) and i think i added the xboxs ip ( icould be wrong, i maybe put it in the wrong place) i was gonna just turn Zone Alarm off and use windows firewall (even though its far below ZA) but to put the xbox 360 into the "allowed area" do i have to add it as a port or something? if so what port number?
please help, oh and p.s thats a 4 page reply.

and i should mention in my Zone Alarm when i click on firewall the following apear:

name:
(my ethernet adapter on pc) then its entry type etc.
loopback adapter then its ip address as its entry type
then my xbox 360 ( which i added) and then its ip address as entry type
