my dvd rom will not recognize that the dvd movie ASYLUM is even the in drive, but it plays in my regular dvd player...anybody know what the deal is...please help!!

First:
In order for your DVD-ROM drive to recognize and play a DVD movie, you need a DVD decoder installed (windows media player doesn't come with). When you go to MY COMPUTER, is the drive shown?

Try:

1)Rebot the pc and try again.

2)Have you watched DVD movies on your pc using this drive before? if so and are unable to do so now, the problem could be with the drive itself. Try playing another movie with the drive, if it plays correctly then the problem could be with the ASYLUM disk, if not the drive could of failed.

3)Before you give up on the drive (because it wont play anything) try this:
Goto device manager and find DVD/CD-ROM drives, cilck on the + sign and find the entry that represents your DVD drive, right click on it and choose uninstall, reboot, upon rebot the OS will reinstall it. Try playing a movie with it again.

sorry, been gone for awhile. The dvd drive recognizes other movies and my cd's...trying to copy this particular disc isn't working...does Universal have some encryption like Sony does on their movies...

It's a good possibility it does. I used AnyDVD and DVD Shrink with no problems.

It was unclear as to whether you had a problem with playing the DVD or trying to copy it (I assumed the problem was with playing it).

Keeping it free try these options:

Rip the files to your HDD using DVDdecrypter in file mode (ALL files), then use DVDshrink to open/shrink/and transcode the files.

OR

Use DVDFab decrypter (free) to rip the files to your HDD, DVDFab is a whole movie ripper only, then use DVDshrink to open/shrink/and transcode the files.

If your still having problems, I agree with cardsrok's suggestion, it's the easiest thing to do. Anydvd comes with a 21 day free trial before you have to buy it, once installed it works in the backround helping to crack the encryption on the disk while using it with DVDshrink or DVDdecrypter.

I have the same problem with ASYLUM Put into the PC and nothing shows up PC does not read the DVD. I also put into my Mac and still nothing DVD does not show up. It is like nothing is in the DVD drive.

If you put into a DVD player for the TV it works fine.

Very strange must be a new protection.....

The movie is made by paramount.
