desperately seeking help from cyberspace re: very slow decryption/burn speeds.used to be about 3000+kb/s but now is only 900-1000kb/s...any thoughts on why...even my media player is playing back dvd's via the burner but the playback is choppy and audio is garggled...i suspect that i need to make some sort of preference/setting/option changes but have no clue of what or where.the burns are problem free but takes crazy long...please help with any suggestions

Check and make sure you are in dma mode and not the slooow pio mode. Here's a link if needed:

Try that 1st and let us know.

Yes you should restart after you make the changes. This should then change it to DMA. If it doesn't then you will need to uninstall the channel and restart - this should force windows to reinstall the drivers which will hopefully fix the problem.
