I think the only reason these folks want to know how to use decrypter and shrink in conjunction is because when you use the decryptor the file that you create on your hard drive will be 7.7 gigs...and we all know that unless you are burning double layer discs you will need to shrink it down. When you go to shrink it using DVD Shrink it says that the file contains invalid data. Now if you throw the disc in the drive and the have AnyDVD running in the backround DVDshrink starts to open the disk but most of the way into the disk you get an error about the filling program running out of memory.

O.k. you are absolutely right...I downloaded VoBlanker, opened Flightplan with that. Had AnyDVD running in the backround. Created a file on the HD that was 7.7 gigs. But then open up DvdShrink and you should be able to shrink it. Now you can delete the origional 7.7 gig file and just burn from the mewly created 4.35 gig file...seems to work great but damn that was a lot of work.

the only problem i had with this movie - flight plan - was the longer time it took.
worked sucessfully using either the Wizard, or with dvdfab decrypter. I understand from other forums that others had similar time issues

Downloaded, paid for and installed AnyDVD and I still had problems so i turned to a program that I had not used yet DVDFab. Downloaded the free trail version, Installed and worked flawlessly with VOBblanker so I will be purchasing DVDFab and trashing AnyDVD...lol

I used DVD Decrypter -MODE - ISO READ
Once on my HD
Open DVD Shrink - FILE - OPEN DISK - REAUTHOR
I did use region free css and AnyDVD before their trials ran out . But have not had a problem since . Once in while a movie like Flightplan gets hosed in Shrink, then I just add in the DVDdecrypter step, have been able to conquer them all so far.

for those who only care about having the main movie without the menu's, extras & subtitles. i was able to backup fight plan using DVD Shrink and burning with Nero.
after openning the disk in shrink select re-author, dbl click on title 14 under main movie, click on set start/end frames. set start at 36 s 3 frames and left the end frame at default. clicked ok and had a perfect backup of the main movie in less than 7 min.

yeah 7MAG, what you haven't read evidently is that for nearly 95% of all people here DVD Shrink did NOT let the movie be reauthored. so your posting is kinda useless.

I don't know if you noticed but this is a lot of work for a film that is quite mediocre. Kind of a chick flick isn't it ? Poor woman is taken advantage of by a man etc...woman prevails in the end with no help from any man abord the plane right ? Perfect feminist (or feminazi if you're a ditohead) exemplification of patriarchial society dominating matriarchy right ?

I read this thread kind of late, but I'm suprised that people are having trouble using AnyDVD. I burned Flight Plan using AnyDVD and CloneDVD and it took 1 hour and 10 minutes -- my system is not fast. I understand some people don't like these programs, but this was the best $49 I ever spent.

I'm having a different kind of problem with flightplan. Since it didn't work with DVD Shrink, used PGC edit with PsL2 plug in, since it was not Arcos protected, found the problem with VOB3, used DVD Decrypter, shrink, and Nero to burn. Movie played fine until Chapter 8 where it started repeating the scene over and over again. Only way to fix this was to fast forward through it.
Using Sony Media, will try the verbatim next.
And a Pioneer burner.
Any thoughts?

Rip the dvd to the HDD using the latest version of DVDFab (ver 2.9.7.0), once done run shrink and open the files (use the open files tab), click on the re-author tab and choose just the main movie (top most title icon), click backup and have shrink create an ISO file to burn with dvd decrypter.
get dvdfab here: http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
here is a guide on re-authoring with shrink: http://www.jlathamsite.com/dvd/DVDShrink3.htm

Yeah, my PC is sort of like me -- older, but still functional. It is 5 years old, 1.5 mghz, 512mb ram. Definitely need to replace it.

check this out, i backed up flightplan just using full disc back-up and when i played the back-up on my pc, it was great quality as one would expect! but, when i played it on my home dvd player the damn director commentary was there, and only the commentary!!! so i tried it with re-author and only selcted the movie file and the same thing happened again. so i tried one last time and made sure it was just movie file and once again was stuck with the commentary, so screw it flight plan don't get a back-up!!

dtxpress that should be an easy fix in re-author mode UNCHECK the director comments or when playing back the movie in your dvd player use your remote to get the RIGHT audio
