If you have a legitimate copy of Nero then go to http://www.nero and download package 2, you will need your s/n that came with Nero.

If you already have a legitimate copy of Nero then just insert s/n when asked and it's free.

Well here we strike a problem, aparently you have to have the full version, but it's worth a try. Give it a go and see if it accepts you s/n from oem.

There are other progs that are actually free but as you already have Nero I was trying to assist you with an easy update. Going to a web site and clicking a few buttons is not a hard thing to do. If you want a good reliable prog then I would give it a go.
You could always download following 2 free progs made by VSO..DivXtoDVD and CopyToDVD.. the first prog converts the files and the 2nd burns to DVD.
Should look like this

The Nero trial is full function, it has to be reloaded periodically. No limit on the trials. It just gets to be a pain and many people give up and buy it. Nero Vision 4 is the conversion app in Nero 7. I was going to say VSO apps are mostly retail, but with trials. You caught that one. ;) DivXToDVD was free at one time, but when VSO got it out of beta, it went retail and is now DivXToDVD 2. BTW, did you notice there is a separate forum set up for DivX/XVid?

De nada. Glad you got it under control. Good burning. Did I mention WinAVI Video Converter. It's another easy to use app. It has a free trial, but it has a logo on the screen. Worth a try to see if you like it. It doesn't cost anything to try it.

i didnt want to start a new thread and its pretty much related to someone's advice from this thread. For DivX to DVD, i converted my AVI to DivX format and put it thru DivX to DVD, and i get a DVD video_TS structure. My standalone dvd player that is attached to my tv DOES NOT player DivX or supports DivX. So would it play the converted video?

Why not just burn to DVD in AVI format using NVE.

rnt dvd's in mpeg2 format? im assuming NVE is Nero visioin express. How would i select just to dvd format, cuz i could only find like mpeg1 or mpeg2. I might as well also ask cuz u seem to know alot about Nero. Which is better Nero 7 ultra or Nero 7 premium?
thanks

... or WinAVI Video Converter. You'll find different apps that can convert and record from AVI to DVD. DivX is one of the more common codecs packaged in the AVI folder. You can think of AVI as a container and DivX is just one of the things that can be carried in it. You "opened" the AVI container, removed the DivX and then converted to DVD. At this stage you can burn it to disc with Nero Express or any decent burner and play on your standalone player. Hopefully there are no structural flaws in the VIDEO_TS to prevent playing, happens on occasion from a bad source. As mentioned it's easier to use an app that takes the AVI and opens it and processes the contents without further user input.

NVE is Nero Vision Express, in Nero 7 you have the Nero Vision 4. MPEG2 is the DVD-Video you want to use. Ultra is the full package of Nero apps. Depends on whether you want the whole package or not. Check the Nero site for contents of each suite. If you already have the file you're working with in MPEG2 in VIDEO_TS folder, go ahead and burn it with Nero Express or whatever. You're done. Next time use an app that goes direct from AVI to DVD, it takes a lot of the guess work out.
