DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR PSP BY ALL MEANS! 2.0 is one of the best and rarest firmwares to have, and you can downgrade it to 1.5. DO NOT UPGRADE!

What sniper78 means it that you are running firmware 2.0. If you want to be able to run homebrew applications and also be able to load ISOs from the memory stick, (ISOs are back ups of your own PSP games), having the firmware 2.0 puts you in a good place. You can still downgrade your firmware to 1.5 to play these homebrew apps and load ISOs that I was speaking about. You can only run these programs if you have firmware version 1.0 or 1.5, no other version currently. So he is saying why upgrade, bceause then you can never play homebrew apps and load ISOs ever again. Now, if you don't want to do these things, then be my guest and update away, but you can never downgrade back down to an older firmware once you update it.

As far as where to get the update, goto sony's website.

And also, after downgrading to 1.50 you can use a Version Changer to trick your PSP into thinking it is something higher than it is. DEFINATELY DO NOT DOWNGRADE!

I actually meant that upgrading to 2.01 would be a bad idea, wheras downgrading to 1.50 and version changing to 2.01 would be better? Maybe?

Don't be sorry wattster, just trying to put my 2 cents in as well. You seem to have a good understanding for the most part. :) I actually replied to your thread titled 'Problem playing Official UMDs using 1.5 with Version Changer'. That might answer your question about the version changer which I believe to be correct, at least with my own experiences and with friends as well.

wuts the point of havin 1.50, oh u can play homebrwes, wuts so good bout homebrews, u cant play wma files, u cnat play sum of those good games, but who ever thinks 1.50 iz good go ahed, im jus sayin that, thers really no point of havin 1.50
