I was reading in a game mag. that you could hack. your PSP to use it as a cell phone. Is this crazy? If it is true how and ...well how?

White and black 1.5 psp's

I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

Back when the PSP was still in development there were a bunch of rumors of what the psp could do. I remember hearing about possible cell phone add-ons for the device. I don't see a lot of people using them as phones though. They're too big and too expensive to use as a regular cell phone.

I read that same thing stevepre1. I think it was either Electronic Gaming Monthly or Game Informer. Either way it still could be possible. There is no way the PSP could work like a regular cell phone, it doesn't have the right parts to be a cell phone. BUT.... it does have wireless Internet access. They already have technology called voice over IP, basically send your voice signal over the Internet. So someone could still make some homebrew software out there that would use the Internet to connect to another PSP user with the same software, or somehow be able to work with real phones on the other end. I think it could still be possible. You would just have to use the PSP headset that you can buy for like 20 bucks I think. It may now show up anytime soon, but I'm gonna keep my eyes open. :)

the psp headsets cost, 15 , and yes i think this might b tru, i saw it on sum website, and mag, thers been a lot of forums bout this, ther wus this forum i red, im not lying, i red the forum and thers wus a kid who sed, he had a teacher and he saw the psp wring. and im really not lyin,

Ya I know I saw it somewere I just couldn't remember where. I went through every mag I had and still could't find it, but I know I saw something about it. It doesn't seem very far off. I've seen phone service providers on the net, through the net. I know the tech is out their to do that. The question is if the PSP could support such a thing,(wireless internet).I'm sure there is more to it then just haveing a wireless connection and a simple hack or every body would have a free phone on their personal computer.What ever happens to be the case I do hope someone comes up with something soon then we can all sick it to those money hungry minute counting cell phone giants one PSP at a time.

wow this thread makes me angry... you nooblets dont understand that ps has no mic, and it has nothing the inside of a cell phone should have. there is however a sony ericson coming out that will flip over and become an addition to the psp screen. that is NOT a PSP CELL PHONE it is an ADDITION dont post stupid stuff like that. thisll cost a lot too and they wont release 2.6+ until that cell phone has been released as well. dont beleive everything ur drunk friend tells you or ill have to come back. speaking of which dont try to flame me back cuz im never going to check this thread again.
