Just before XMAS I purchased some Ritek Arita 4x DVD-R From supermediastore.com. I purchased 200 total, sold 50, and am on my last spindle of 50. I've been going through my backups and quite a few of them are skipping and some of them aren't even reading in dvd players. Also, After looking at my last spindle the edges on about 20 of them are pretty rough. I'm not sure if this will effect the recording or not.

Personally Ive had a better turn out with the 100 Memorex DVDs I bought. No lie. Ive had only a few fail and no skips.

Now I'm about to purchase some more dvds, This time I wanted to purchase DVD+R's, Of course Verbatim and Taiyo's are on the top of the best of list. But they are also on top of the pricy list. What im looking for is a

8x Dvd + R with Just a Regular top, I Do not need to print on it, and it seems like a waste to pay for something i don't use.

After browsing supermediastore.com They have Tayio's for 39.99 Shipped, which seems like a regular price. Id like to get a little more bang for my buck.
Right now they have these on sale
http://www.supermediastore.com/linkyo-8x-dvd-plus-r-cake-box.html
For $20 For 100 it doesn't seem too bad.
Is this a Good Deal, or is this stuff going to turn into coasters?

Anyone have any experiences?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Stros, I would just suggest to stay with what works every time today as well as years from now such as TY or Verbatim. Linkyo is the HOUSE brand of SuperMediaStore and doesn't have the greatest of reviews.

i've actually had the DISPLEASURE of using the 8x DVD-R Linkyo's...the ones i tried were in a 25-pack spindle and i got them from a friend to "test out" few years ago...what i got were FAKE TAIYO YUDENS with FAKE TYG02 coding...so, i would suggest you stay away for your own good...

you know, when you purchase media, more often than not, "you get what you pay for"...while online, you DO notice that the DVD+R media is usually slightly more expensive than their counterpart DVD-R format, but locally, they are the same price everyday and are pretty cheap when on sale...

lastly, those "arita" riteks have been NOT favorable for many members here, despite being one of Ritek's own branded media; they just don't work that well...if i were to recommend some 4x DVD-R format media, you can NOT GO WRONG with the Taiyo Yudens 4x DVD-R media, with the TYG01 coding...i got thousands of those puppies under my belt and they are flawless~ :)

so, since you are now looking for the DVD+R discs, stick with Verbatim 8x/16x MCC003/MCC004 discs (found locally on sale, made in taiwan) or the Fuji/Sony 8x DVD+R with the YUDEN000T02 coding on the MADE IN JAPAN spindles only, this is locally again! if you have SOME patience, just wait for the frequent sales on either Verbatim/Fuji/Sony media, make sure you check the spindles in store for the "made in japan" for the Fuji and Sony media to get the Taiyo Yudens~

good luck

docTY~

Bestbuy Has some Verbatim +R's on sale this week for 14.99 for 50, and then the 6% sales tax for me.

What would you rather use, the Ritek Ridata's or the verbatims?

I vote for the Verbatims.
I had nothing but bad experiences with Ritek.

Ever since Doc TY has turned me to Verbatim, I haven't looked back. I've had no such problems with it. Even before I discovered how to booktype them to DVD-Rom, the Verbs played on every DVD player I tried.
Since I just backed up the entire Friends collection, I was running low on DVDs so I decided to try the world famous TY's. And yes, they're the official ones from supermediastore. I should be getting them any day now. Here's hoping...

Newegg is also selling the TY's. I may have to look into that.
