Hi guys just got my psp today and im getting confused on what firmware to run. i bought v2.00 as i thought it would be a safe bet to downgrade and upgrade etc... Ive gone thru 30 odd pages in this forum but still need a little advise.
if i downgrade to v1.5 i can play iso, but ive read that some games like GTA can only be played on higher versions is this true and if it is would the iso of socom or gta let you play on 1.5.
Also i got fifa which is online game if that game was to get broken and i had the iso for it, would i still be able to play it online or has it got a dnas code.
To be honest i dont think i would play snes and other retro games on my psp, but i have got 4 or 5 different console and im always running out of places to store my games so therefore they do get damaged and scratched. i mainly play online games but if they are to get messed up and i have made a back up would it still play online. or will i have to keep up-downgrading depending on the. And by the sounds of things eventually you will have to choose between sticking with v1.5 and playing older games or upgrading so you can play new releases. Any help would be grate and if im wrong on what ive said can you put me in the right direction.. Thanks

Your spot on man the choice is yours upgrade to newer games or stay with what you know. Im staying on 1.5 until a firmware comes out that really has something that i want like a tv tuner function( ofcourse this would requires some adaptors)
I havent played many online games using backups but the ones i have, have worked so i dont think there is DNAS like ps2.
another way you can go if you downgrade. you can always get the umd emulator .8c and download a firmware eboot for so that your psp thinks its running 2.0 then you be able to jave your games and any homebrew you want. thats at i have for my 1.5 and you can even download iso games that you can find on the internet and play with the umd emulator.
I would actually downgrade cos then you could save a lot of money from downloading games. With some games you can use a version changer to trick the PSP into thinking it's a higher version. Only problem is that some games won't work even if you trick the version. Example: Grand Theft Auto: LCS, which requires version 2.00, since you can downgrade with version 2.00, you could just upgrade and downgrade as much as you want.
One more thing with WAB Version Changer some people think it is a bricker, but it has certainlly worked with my PSP. So if you dont wanna use version changer just upgrade to 2.00 and downgrade again when you wanna play some downloaded games.
Don't upgrade to higher than version 2.00! Otherwise you cannot downgrade until a new downgrader for versions higher than 2.00 comes out. Stay with version 2.00 if u wanna downgrade to 1.50!
