My son purchased a PSP film from a shop in Perth Australia (Robots) When we try and play it in his PSP it states wrong region number. But both were purchased in Perth Austrlia and both state region 4 on the boxes??

Is there anyway I can check the region settings on the PSP?
Or does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

I am also from aus, I havent had your problem and dont know how to check for region info other then checkin the box. However what firmware do you use? if it is 2.01 or higher you might want to read this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/267298 it might help you get the movie to work but if your firmware 2.0 or under prob best off returning the movie or buying another. Have you tried encoding your own movies? Try Pspvideo9 its best encoder so far even encodes in AVC.
Good luck m8

Cheers,

Just checked the games he has and they are all region 4 and play fine, so the film must be wrong? (Game was purchased from JB HIFI).
Have not tried any encoding yet.

Many thanks

Encoding doesnt give you the same quality picture or sound as UMD, on the other hand it is free since you can encode any dvd or video files on your comp. You will prob need a 1gb memory stick duo preferably 2gb(approx $300 in aus). But if the high quality is what you want UMD is the way to go.

Sorted the issue, have taken the movie back to the shop. They said all of the batch was faulty.

Many thanks
