You have a couple of options, I first decrypted with DVDfab then used shrink, made a perfect copy. Another option you have is to run AnyDVD in the background when using Shrink to remove any protection the disc may have (this is also what DVDFab does). DVDFab is free, AnyDVD is free to try for a 21 day trial period, but is updated more often. Plus AnyDVD will allow you to use shrink the way you have been normally because it runs in the background.

Try ripping with Fab first then shrinking, I can't remember if I used shrink or recode, but Fab allowed me to get a perfect copy with menus and all.

Try using the free software vobblanker - i used this for Madagascar which had the same problem - make sure you have AnyDVD running, you run vobblanker, click browse and navigate to the video_ts directory on your dvd. You then choose an output directory - bear in mind that the dvd will be copied in its entirety so you will need 9 gb free for the files. When vobblanker has copied the files, click "process all". When finished open dvdshrink, choose "open files" and then navigate to the output directory you created - hopefully this will work.

I don't see the problem myself. I did "Mr and Mrs Smith" some time back and it wasn't anything special. Cyclic Redundancy simply means Shrink is suffering a read problem and is timing out. I use HD files, so I use AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter to get my cleaned files on the hard drive (HD). Once a person has a compliant (cleaned) source, transcoding or encoding should be a breeze with most apps available. The key is getting the clean rip. Besides VobBlanker, I've found FixVTS to be another handy app for straightening up compliance issues. Most of the compliance problems happen with the newer movies with the Sony ARccOS and/or bad sector protection(s).

me that there are no devices found, and if i try DVD Shrink it keeps telling me
"DvdShrink encountered a problem and cannot continue.
Failed to Read File "d/"
Data Error (cyclic Redundancy check) "!!!
fab decrypter tells me "get dvd information fail: 4100",so what the hell is going wrong.same thing with "edison".

It is a simple movie to copy - you appear to have a bad/damaged source disk - that is what the CRC error is telling you.

Try a different source disk.

Edited: I said to rip the files to the HD. If it failed there, then what colw said is indicated, a problem disc. If you can't exchange the disc you have, do a read test with DVDInfopro or similar tool and see if you find a bunch of bad sectors. Sometimes cleaning and polishing a disc can help if scratched and smudged. I have a resurfacing tool for minor scratches. Internal falts and deep scratches are the kiss of death though. Sometimes discs will play that won't record.

If you can't rip a good DVD of Mr and Mrs Smith to the HD, you're doing something seriously wrong. I've heard of no serious protection on that one at all. As I said, I did it with AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter with no problems at all. Is the red fox Icon on the toolbar while you're using DVD Decrypter to rip the files to the HD?

Then you don't have the files opened properly in DVD Decrypter. You can go to http://www.dvdshrink.info and take a look in guides for the short starter guide on how to use DVD Decrypter. At h ttp://www.dvdidle.com there is a free program named DVDFab Decrypter you can use to rip the DVD to the HD as well. All you do with it is select the source and target (where you're sending the ripped files), and then enter start. Remember where you sent the files so you can open them in Shrink.

Yoshiizu,

Can My Computer or Windows Explorer see the burner? If not, you should probably uninstall the drivers for the drive and re-boot, Windows should re-intall the drivers, but make sure DMA is on.
