jdog is absolutly right about several things, several months ago my burning methods started to frezze often, I added another 512mb to my already 512mb, never froze again after that.
And a question anybody, is voblanker a ripper or a dycreptor, and if it's a dycreptor does it sit in the background like antdvd or DVD43 or does it take adjustments to use, thanks.

@FredBun
I would call VOB Blanker more of a video tool. It is not a ripper or decrypter, but a file processor. Specialized one. Think of it as a junk remover.

Okay, I have DVD Shrink 3.2 and usually use Nero, but I just downloaded the VOB thingy. I read the whole forum here and I still have no idea what to do. I really want this stupid movie (FlightPlan) and it's already a day late. Sooo, if someone here could give me a really detailed description of what the heck I'm supposed to do, I would be really happy. =)
I don't know what to put in the Input Video Manager and Output Folder spaces. Or what the heck to do. When I try to use the DVD Shrink (with the Nero) on the re-author it makes it 5% and then freezes, then I get some error message saying the movie is encrypted, or something like that.
I am obviously not any good with this kind of stuff, but if someone could really walk me through it, I would be sooooooooo happy!!
Thanks much!!

Here is my guide to getting a successful backup of Flight plan using VobBlanker:
Here is what you do:
1) download and install DVDFab decrypter (Free), get it here..
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
Note: you can also use DVDdecrypter to rip in file mode (all files)
2) get vobblanker here..no installation required for this app
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
DVDfab is a whole movie ripper and very easy to use, use it to rip the files to your hard drive. Create a folder on your desktop and call it "flight_plan", store the files ripped with DVDFab there. Once done there should be a VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab inside the flight_plan folder containing the video files. Close DVDFab.
Create another folder on you desktop and call it "temporary".
Now run vobBlanker and leave the settings as they are (you need to do this because there are still some bad cells in the files that cause the problem with shrink).
For input Folder browse to the flight_plan folder and then into the VIDEO_TS folder, highlight the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and press ok (path looks like this: c:\flight_plan\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO).
For output folder, browse to the temporary folder you created and press ok (path looks like this: c:\temporary)
Press the Process button and wait for VobBlanker to finish.
Once VobBlanker is done, the "temporary" folder is all you care about and can delete the flight_plan folder on your desktop. The temporary folder contains the corrected video files that shrink will use.
Create another folder on you desktop and call "flight_plan_fixed", rename the temporary folder to VIDEO_TS and put this folder into the flight_plan_fixed folder you created.
Run DVDshrink and choose open files and browse to: flight_plan_fixed\VIDEO_TS, highlight the video_ts folder and click open. Shrink should have no problem with opening the files, at this point you can use shrink as you normally would, I suggest you re-author to get the main movie only.
good luck.

@missydney
You will need to rip your movie first using either DVDDecrypter or DVDFab Decrypter and then open VobBlanker. Use your ripped file as the input file and designate a folder of your choice that you have created as the output file. Just hit process and then VobBlanker will do its work. After just process this file through Shrink and burn.

I too suggest reauthor, this movie has a whopper DTS sound which brings compression to 70% unless you want it get rid of it. The movie is only 1 and a half hours long and without the DTS there is no compression.

Oh and at the DVD Fab link thingy, which one do I download?
DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.8 (01/11/2006) (this one?) or
DVDFab Decrypter is a simple version of DVDFab Express. It copies entire DVD movie to hard disk, and removes all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) while copying.
Download Now
Free DVD (this one)?
Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It removes region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection, and user operation prohibitions (UOPs). You can use it to get a free DVD before you burn the DVD folder. It's only 44K.

Rip the DVD files to your hard drive using DVD Decrypter.
Here is a guide:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvd-decrypter.php

Create a folder on your desktop and call it "flight_plan", store the files ripped with DVD Decrypter there. Once done there should be a bunch of files created by DVD Decrypter inside the flight_plan folder (.VOB, .ifo, .bup video files). Close DVD Decrypter.
Create another folder on you desktop and call it "temporary".

mixell,
If you have been reading this thread, you will know you need VOB Blanker for this, or use AnyDVD. I am not going to repeat what has already been said by many ppl in many different ways. This is real easy folks.. Here is a summary of what to do.
1. Extract files to HD using DVD Decrypter Mode File F. (or you can use dvd fab decrypter)
2. Go to those files extracted by decrypter and process them with VOB Blanker. (input folder = these files) (output folder = you name the folder) hit process. Use the Browse button to find your files.
3. Open VOB Blanker processed files and Shrink will work. (or nero, or clonedvd2, etc..
Really it is that easy. All you have to supply is the input and output folder for blanker and hit process. That is all you need to know to get VOB Blanker to work.
Now we can make this more complicated, but it can't get much less complicated than the instructions given here. Just read what has been written, and try it.
Here is what you do with Decrypter:
I didn't have the movie in the drive on that picture, just showing the buttons to click on.
Vob Blanker has already been shown as to which buttons to push.
So it comes down to one being able to find the files, Name a folder and find it. Operate VOB Blanker as shown. Process normally after blanker did its thing.
OR,,, use AnyDVD and you wont have to use VOB Blanker. DVD43 will probably get it also, and 43 is free.
I can't always get back here to reply right away(i work 12hr nightshift), but i really can't make this much easier, other than coming over to your house and doing it for you. And that wouldn't be so easy for me :). Talk about a traveling expense,,,, would be a good job to get paid for though :)

All of you people like to complicate things too much. Go to nsaneproductions download ANYDVD and downlaod ConeDVD2 both programs really simple to use. You have to be online for AnyDVD to work. In CloneDVD2 check only english for language uncheck all subtitles CloneDVD will compress, copy to hard drive and burn disc all at once and in a timely manner.
work smart not hard and simplify as much as possible
Trust me I have made thousands of copies.

when i download with DVD Decrypter, how can i compress? the files are always too big to burn with Nero. and how do i isolate the files on DVD Decrypter into 2 dvd files (dvd shrink makes this SO easy) so i can burn a film onto 2 dvds, as i never compress more than 90%. HELP! so in LAYMAN's terms, how on DVD Decrypter can i break a film into 2 parts so they BOTH WILL BURN ON Nero AND PLAY? specifically, what of the files do i choose that each DVD burned would need? iso, bup, itf, etc--CRAP--what the hell do these mean?!!!

@ mixell,
A patch is just another name for a "fix", the patch/fix corrects a problem so that the software works correctly or gives it additional functionality.
I have two DVD burners in my system, and believe me it makes things a whole lot easier and faster, but all you really need is one.
When you're choosing File mode in decrypter, this refers to the files located in the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD (these files will have .vob, .bup, and .ifo extensions). For file mode set it to select "ALL" the files, buy doing this you're getting every thing on the DVD to rip to your hard drive.
Look at the guide, it will show you how...
http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvd-decrypter.php
Run DVDshrink and click on the open file Tab, browse to the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDdecrypter, highlight it and click open. If you want the best possible video quality you'll have to reauthor the movie, this guide will show you how so please read it.
http://www.jlathamsite.com/dvd/DVDShrink3.htm
You have nero and you have DVD decrypter so....If you want to automaticall burn, when you choose "backup" in dvd shrink you"ll have two choices"
save target as ISO image file and burn with decrypter
or
You'll see burn files with nero
Since you have decrypter choose to save target as "ISO image file and burn with decrypter", decrypter will automatically launch and ask you for media so it can burn you backup to DVD.
