I have followed your info exactly, using dvd fab to rip to hd, then use Vob blanker to blank #23 - 26. When I process that, on VTS 01 - I get the message "Error reading Input VOB Unsynchronized" . What am I missing? Did I forget something? Plez help.
What version is your DVDFAB Decrypter? How big is your (the whole) movie (ie GB) after you've successfully ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter? In order to successfully rip and have a backup of "THE FOG", you'll need the DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 or the latest to rip into your hard drive. Then follow the simple guide carefully, here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/293994
However, if you did infact, ripped THE FOG with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 , but when you processed with VobBLanker 2.1.0.0 and it's giving you errors, then it is likely that you have a badly pressed original. My advice to you is to exchange it for a new one, then follow the guide wisely and you'll be fine.
Honestly, I just DON'T understand (seriously don't know) how come some people are having so many problems when they're processing the VIDEO_TS file with VobBLanker. All you need to do is a 3 steps: (A) set your "input" VIDEO_TS file, (B) set your "output" VIDEO_TS folder, (C) click on PROCESS and just let it does its thing.
I've been using VobBLanker for roughly 4 months and it has NEVER let me down. Like I said before, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS, VobBLanker will handle the job flawlessly once the movie files has been ripped with DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F into the hard drive.

I did it step by step, very slowly, double checking what I was doing, and like Alkohol's Guide it worked without a problem. Just follow the sreps and leave your PC alone while you do it and it will work. Its not hard at all.
saying it worked for you doesent help with the problem i'm having. all of my programs are up to date and have followed instructions precisley
and still get the errors. have also picked up new disc!!
I'd like to thank Alkohol for his detailed description on how to backup my copy of The Fog. I am a newbie, and his method worked for me. Here are a few things that I noticed, that might help others who are having a problem with backing up this movie. I first tried to use DVD Decrypter(Version 3.5.4) instead of DVDFab Decrypter(Version 2.9.7.2) and got the error message that most of you have when trying to use VobBlanker. When I used DVDFab Decyrpter to burn the movie to my hard drive and then used VobBlanker, I had no error messages, and was able to use DVD Shrink to make my back-up copy and it plays without a hitch. An important thing to remember is to shut down anything you have running in the background (AnyDVD or DVD43) before trying this, if not, you'll get an error message when you try to use VobBlanker later on in the process. I also got the error message "Error reading Input VOB Unsynchronized" when I tried to blank out #23-26, so I re-tried it without blanking these out and let VobBlanker find the cells that had to be removed automatically, and I got a working back-up copy of the movie. Hope this helps....
To be honest, I really have no more comment. I've been using VobBlanker for 5 months and I've never seen/experienced or encountered any issues whatsoever when processing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. VobBlanker has never let me down, it has been proven and worked 100% flawlessly.
Seriously, I DON'T KNOW why some people are having issues when "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker, yet on the other hand, half or some people are processing their VIDEO_TS.IFO smoothly.
My advise for anyone who's interested is to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or any cracking engines that's running in the background. Because if you have any of those running in the background, it will FIGHT with DVDFAB Decrypter while DVDFAB Decrypter is ripping, and it will FIGHT and CONFLICT with VobBlanker while "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker.

Glad you guys were able to successfully rip and backup this smoothly by following the guide. Now enjoy your backup to the fullest.
You can use this method (DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker) for any new released dvds/movies in the future. Just make sure you have the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter to rip the movie into your hard drive, then "PROCESS" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file with VobBlanker and it should be fine.
**knowledge fact: if any of you two have 2 hard drives (i.e. C & D); set INPUT folder for C, then OUTPUT folder for D, click PROCESS and I GUARANTEE you guys that VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 will take NO LONGER than 5 minutes. Yes, it should be completed within 5 minutes of processing.
