I got the psp giga pack today and not having any games yet im trying to get some videos onto the memory stick but they dont play, the psp says unsupported data. Ive tried downloading videos in the psp format from video.google.com and recording my own but they all come up the same. The psp has 2.6 on it and the file structure is MP_ROOT/100MNV01 and the file is called M4V00027.MP4

[edit] If i go to the infomation bit for the videos on the psp it says the name, lenght etc but it just doesnt play saying unsupported data.

yeah, the videos from videos.google.com are a differnt format from normal ones and need to be named different and put in a different folder. They have to go in MP_ROOT/100ANV01 and named MAQ00000.mp4 etc where as normal MP4 videos have to be MP_ROOT/100MNV01 and named M4V00000.MP4

oh i know what im doing different. i got max media manager for psp, all you have to do is get a video and put it onto the library. when you do this click on the film and click copy. even if its not in the mp4 form it will make it on max media manager. guys it cost money but its worth it, Only $15.

MP_ROOT/100ANV01 This folder is used to store AVC codec mp4s
MAQ00000.mp4 This file is uses AVC codec, youll need psp firmware 2.0 or > to view it, or use a special 1.5 firmware with AVC codec
The normal M4V files are use the SP format
Try encoding in AVC its a bit better then SP
BTW theres many programs online which offer psp video conversions give it a try b4 you spend your well earned $$$

Alright...so i've bought "Max Media Manager For the PSP" and no matter what I have tried whenever I try to watch the video that has "succesfully" been downloaded onto my card the message "Unsupported Data" pops up in a little box with a question mark!!!!
Now what the hell is up!? The video is a MPEG4. I can succesfully open it up and watch it on my computer with Quicktime. The only thing is I got the video sent to me from my friends computer over email...ANyway any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! THIS SHIT PISSES ME OFF!!!!

Never used MMM i really should the little disc has been sitting in front of me for 5 months. Anyway what are you encoding in?
if your firmware is 1.5 then you can only to encode in MP4[SP]
if your firmware is 2.0+ then you can encode in MP4[SP] or MP4[AVC]

If your encoding profile is 320X240/29.97fps/1500kbps/etc

then try lowering your bitrate to 768kbps ie 320X240/29.97fps/768kbps
(some ppl have problems encoding with high bitrates)

Thats all i can suggest now, still not working let us know.
