I have been getting these alot when I burn copies of my movies, especially the newer movies. I can burn other movies, including new dvd's such as stealth, Crash, Wedding Crashers and so on without no problems. Is there a new way to prevent copies. I have this problem more and more lately. I have a HPDVD420E dvd burner.

that error refers to scratched or dirty discs and sometimes to crappy media.
Are you r discs scratched or dirty?
what media are you using?
what burning speed are you using?

Give an example of a movie that gives you a CRC error.

I just burned a copy of "The Man" with Samuel Jackson, but right before it I tried to burn a copy of Flightplan, and It kept coming up with Data Error (cyclic redundancy Check) and it would stop the burn. This has happened on several of the new movies that everyone wants, you know the good ones. just wondering if there is a new copy protection that does this.

have you tried just copying the disc through a copy and paste of the audio_ts/video_ts folder to your hard drive or tried using isobuster to recoiver the data from disc to hard drive and then burn it back.....

Even if they dont look scratched they may still be, the smallest scratch can affect your chances of copying it.

you might need to take it to a professional , say like your video library and use there cleaning equipment as it can re grind the disc and get rid of the scratches.Should only cost you a couple of bucks and then see how you go

I have exactly the same problem with 2 movies - Bad Santa and Wolf Creek. These are brand new and don't have a mark on them - yet each and every time I try to copy I get the CRC error. I've tried Clone DVD, ANy DVD, DVD Shrink and nothing works. It gets to about 12% of backup and then I get this CRC error message. I know of other people who have had the same problem with Bad Santa, so it can't be a scratch - this has to be some new thing to prevent copying surely? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks.

some times its not uncommon for companies to put damaged VOB files with in the disc to prevent you from copying them.Isobuster should be able to tell you if this is the case here

Guess what? I tried the simple idea mentioned above - just copying the Video TS folder directly from the DVD to my hard drive and it copied fully! Simple as that! How come that worked? After hours of trying to use DVD Shrink and getting the CRC error.....btw 1ClickDVD got the same CRC error.
But hang on, why don't people just always do that instead then, just copy Video/Audio TS folders to the hard drive? There must be a catch...another question on this topic -do you need to copy the Audio TS folder as well? This always looks empty, is there anything hidden in this folder or will the Video folder work on it's own for burning? Another question, I downloaded AnyDVD but don't know if it's working or not, how can I tell?

you need to copy both folders but you will notice that there isnt anything in the audio_ts folder. Its a neccessary part of the process.
