Looks like Ritek is warning of pirate goods in the Japanese marketplace. Here is a warning that they have posted upon their web page.

what the heck is wrong with those sorts of people, why dont they just make their own brand name and build it up, just like verbatim and ritek did themselves.
i don't think ritek really needs to worry about japanese counterfeiters ruining their reputation as a maker of reliable, quality media. they're doing a fine job of it by themselves!

i just had to laugh when i read that...yes, there have been some issues with quality control on NAMELY the printable Ritek G05s lately, but the Ridata Ritek silver shiny non-printables i have from about 2 years ago STILL hold up very well~ :) and i'm sure i'm not the ONLY one on here that HAS quite a bit of success with Riteks :) i can't say much for PRESENT DAY quality of Riteks, as i haven't purchased any since my initial batch 2 years ago, BUT, the quality IN THE PAST was quite good and was well worth it long time ago as "budget media" :P they were usually cheaper/less expensive than the Taiyo Yudens/Verbatims "back in the days" ...guess i've been burning for TOO LONG and it's finally showing in my posts...i'm an old fogie to burning...
