I haveing some problems backing up American pie 1. I am using bbmayo websites's guide "backing up you dvd weith dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. ive done everything correct on the guide as far as i can tell. I used decrypter to put it on my hard drive...went fine, then i used dvd shrink to take all the extra junk and stuff off of it and then i clicked on "backup" then it analyzes or whatever you call it with the little preview picture and after that its supposed to burn it but it just takes me back to the decrypter program?.... and doesnt burn. Ive checked everything and i think im doing it correct can anybody help? im using Maxwell DVD-R and i have a Lite on burner.

I am a newbie, but alkohol told me to use vobblanker if i had any problems. Just download that program, im sorry i dont have the link. But if you use that program. It will take out some files and then you can use either Shrink or Nero Recode and will burn fine.

I've backed up American Pie plenty of times. You don't need vobblanker, thats overkill and I don't think it would accomplish anything. If you have 3rd party burning software like Nero, you can just use DVDShrink and then burn it with Nero. I hate having to use DVD Decrypter first.
If you have your heart set on using decrypter, be a little more specific with your question. We don't magically know what steps you've taken to get to your current point. Your media and burner are fine.
I'm going to take a stab at your steps, tell me if I'm wrong (but this is what you should be doing ^_^)
1. DVDDecrypt the disc in ISO-Read mode.
2. DVDShrink the iso in "Iso file and burn with DVDDecrypter" mode. Select this option from the first dropdown menu of the box that comes up when you hit "backup". Make sure you have a blank DVD in your drive.
If you don't want to burn it now, then just select ISO file. Burn it later with Decrypter in ISO-Write mode.

Everything dvdsndict said, esp. the blank media insertion. Also, my guess is Decrypter is still in File mode(thats the rip to the hard drive) and thats why its not burning. To change it to burn click Mode, then go to ISO, then Write. Do this after you rip American Pie to harddrive(before u go to Shrink). That way you can Shrink and then burn all in one process.

thanks for the tips guys, i started all over again making sure when i closed decrypter it was on write mode, and when i backed up on shrink i made sure it was "Iso file and burn with DVDDecrypter, after that it encoded and just took me back to the Decrypter screen. i also had a blank dvd in the drive. Any ideas? Can someone just tell me how to burn the movie from my harddrive? i have Nero but im not sure how to use it. Or any other software thats easy to use

I used DVD Shrink and burned with Nero. In order to burn with Nero using shrink make sure that under edit... preferences...file I/O you have "enable burning with nero" checked. Once you are done running it through shrink it should automatically burn with Nero. Hope that helps!
