I have a psp v1.5 that cannot read umds. If there are ne other loaders that will work without a umd could you tell me them. But I am having so much trouble with dev hook, and umd emulator v.08 that I have been told work together. My iso's say ex. name of game.iso. Then it says the are a winrar archive. I got the .iso from extracting the .rar. Ive followed the directions for loading the .iso but i think im doing something that isnt letting them loader. Please help.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

an ISO is a WINRAR archive thats why it will show up as WINRAR archive anyway, This is how you tell if youve got the ISO, when u extract the ISO folder you end up with PSP_GAME folder and UMD_DAT.bin this means youve extracted 1 step too many go back 1 step and bingo theres your ISO.
I havent Used them both together, but ill give it a go and get back to you

The problem with this is that UMDEMULATOR will ONLY LOAD WITH AN UMD DISK INSIDE THE PSP. Instaead, fastloader will load WITHOUT an umd disk inside the PSP. So instead of useing UMDEMULATOR and DEVHOOK, use FASTLOADER.
Download fastloader from www.psp-hacks.com
Put the FASTLOADER AND FASTLOADER% folders (from PSP/GAME folder) into the PSP/GAMES folder of your PSP.
Create a ISO folder in the root directory (JUST BESIDE THE PSP FODLER) and add your ISO there.
Put the ISOMISK and ISOSPLIT in the ROOT DIRECTORY
Then load the fastlaoder (you shouold see a spunge bob and a car when loading) and select the ISO to play it
good luck

do you have any UMD disk? Even the one that comes with the PSP? It dosent matter if it reads the disk... just insert it and try again

Nope it just keeps on saying initializing. I have no clue what is wrong with the psp not reading. It sounds like it reads the disc but behind that noise there is the iiiiiiiiiiiii noise. I need to know a booter that doesnt need a disc or how to use dev hook.

to use devhook just put the DEVHOOK and DEVHOOK% folders (from inside the FW15/PSP/GAME folder of the zipped devhook program) into the PSP/GAME folder. Then just create an iso folder in the root directory and add your ISO there.
Then go back to the PSP main menu and start devhook, select the iso and select start game

Hi,
I am having the same problem, my PSP does not read UMDs, it just makes funny clicking noises.
So even when I insert a UMD it doesn't think there is one in there for some reason.
Therefore I am forced into using Dev Hook as its the only one I've heard of which you don't need a UMD for.
The only problem is Dev Hook doesn't seem to load many games, in fact I've only managed to get one game to work so far.
Does anyone know of another emulator which you dont need a UMD for?
Or does anyone know how I could fix the fault on my PSP and get it to read UMDs.
By the way, if anyone wants to buy it its up for sale on ebay at the mo.
Just search for item number 8260284076
Thanks in advance

Yo Joe why did you remove ur psp? But ok it's been about 2 weeks since I posted here. I bought a supposely none reading psp on ebay. It didn't read, but then I saw down in the drive a bolt about the size of an pencil tip broken stuck to the middle of the wheel. I thought that was the prob so I removed it and it still didn't work. Last week I was ok I need to take this apart it's 1.5, and sony doesn't cover without receipt, and it would be $120 + an upgraded. So I was opening it up and it was really sketchy taking it apart and removing the screen. So I found sources and saw how to remove the screen. I got further into the psp to about the laser. It's the wheel that wasn't spinning. I pushed the laser over, and saw another bolt! I pulled it out spun the wheel manually with the tweesers and it felt good spinning. I put the psp together, and inserted a umd. What do u know it worked. I had to take it apart one more time because the right d pad wasnt screwed in all the way. But now 100% mint, and working v1.5 psp with everything a new psp would have, and burnout legends, and ape escape on the loose, and 2-3 ship all for $137.95 on ebay.

Joe.
You can play a lot of isos without a disc in there..
really you ahouls have devhook and umdemulator running at the same time...
you choose system menu on umd emu, then select ANY rom using devhook.. and usually it should load 80% of all isos without any umd present at all. just remember to go back into UMDemu after you're done, and remove the emulation, or your psp will crash when you try to shut down...
so its UMDemu, select your iso, hit x, then select devhook when it takes you back to the PSP menu, select ANY rom, and presto. you're in
it works well because devhook and umdemu use the same folder for the isos... and if devhook doesnt "see" it... try rebuilding it with the latest version of UMDgen.. its not tooo hard to figure out
good luck

Hi,
Yeah I removed the listing from ebay as I got it to work with almost all of the backups I own. One of the only ones that doesnt work is burnout. For some reason it shows up in umdemulator but not in devhook
any ideas?

Extract everything out of the ISO.
drop it into the newest version of UMDGEN.
save as new iso image..
should do it for you

Nice one.
I'll try it.
Has anyone got a list of games which will NOT work with the devhook umdemu trick?
Cheers, Joe

Hmmm well off the top of my head I can tell you that Midway arcade treasures NEEDS a UMD in the drive. So does Coded arms,
these are gaes I KNOW work either with that combo OR jusr devhook.
Pinball
Star Soldier
Smart Bomb
Mercury
Namco Museum
Marvel Nemesis
Rengoku
Need for Speed
Fired up
Asteroids
Gundam Battle Tactics
Wipeout Pure
Star Wars battlefront 2
Bleach 1 and 2
Harry Potter
Twisted Metal
Guilty Gear
SSX
Legend of Heores
Armored core Formula Front
and probably more that I never tested.
you gotta play with the m a little sometimes and rebuild them and what have you to get it to work well but i'm like 90% positive all these work.... and like I said more than likely a lot of sports games (which I dont ever play)

@ Mardom
Yeah the rebuild worked, devhook picked it up, cheers
To add to that list I have now got to work using umdemulator and devhook with NO UMD:
Winning Eleven 9
Need for speed most wanted
need for speed underground rivals
burnout legends
ridge racer
tiger woods 06
dynasty warriors
In fact the only ones I have not got to work have been
Championship Manager
King Kong

How do you get Star Wars Battlefront 2 to work on a 1.5 psp in iso form?

just read all the stuff above this except for my wicked long post it doesnt have ne thing in it. Everything above this tells u how to use dev hook, and umd emulator so u dont need a disc to boot backups. my psp is fixed now, but dev hook worked when i was fixing it fine.

Does gta work that way? My umd reader is broke and I think I can't use the fastloader or mphgameloader because they need to have a umd disc inside.
