Hi Gang: I just tried to backup "Flightplan" and on the encode readout it states that "This movie cannot be compressed". Now what do I do, never saw that one before?? AND I tried to backup "The Cave" and it stated that it is too big for the disc to copy...
Any info on these two items would be appreciated. Thanks ronnies
Before running the file through Shrink, did you run it through VOB Blanker? All newer movies I run through VOB Blanker before Shrink and have no problems.
Hello Alpsig & Johnl123: Thanks for your prompt reply. Alpsig, I've never heard of "VOB" blanker? Is that a program like "Dvd Shrink", I looked at the "VOB" page, but there was no program there to download. How does it work? Does it work along with "Dvd Shrink"?
Johni123: I ran both thru "Dvdfab" and the movie "The Cave" was too big to copy, it decrypted fine but the movie file was too big it is only 97 min long??? Got an error on "Flightplan". So I'm batting 1000. Any help is appreciated. ronnies
I have yet to do the cave, but flight plan was very easy. There are several ways to do this one, but since DVDFab and VobBlanker were mentioned here goes.
Here is my guide to getting a successful backup of Flight plan using VobBlanker (print this out and follow along):
Note: you can also use DVDdecrypter to rip in file mode (all files)
2) get vobblanker here..no installation required for this app, once there just click on the "Mirror 1 provided by posunplugged" site
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
Use DVDFab to rip the files to your hard drive. Create a folder on your desktop and call it "flight_plan", store the files ripped with DVDFab there. Once done there should be a VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab inside the "flight_plan" folder containing the video files. Close DVDFab.
Create another folder on you desktop and call it "temporary".
Now run vobBlanker and leave the settings as they are (you need to do this because there are still some bad cells in the files that cause the problem with shrink).
For input Folder browse to the "flight_plan" folder and then into the VIDEO_TS folder, highlight the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and press ok (path looks like this: c:\flight_plan\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO).
For output folder, browse to the temporary folder you created and press ok (path looks like this: c:\temporary)
Press the PROCESS button and wait for VobBlanker to finish.
Once VobBlanker is done, the "temporary" folder is all you care about and can delete the "flight_plan" folder on your desktop. The temporary folder contains the corrected video files that shrink will use.
Create another folder on you desktop and call "flight_plan_fixed", rename the temporary folder to VIDEO_TS and put this folder into the flight_plan_fixed folder you created.
Run DVDshrink and choose open files and browse to: flight_plan_fixed\VIDEO_TS, highlight the video_ts folder and click open. Shrink should have no problem with opening the files, at this point you can use shrink as you normally would, I suggest you re-author to get the main movie only.
Alpsig & Johni123: The "VobBlanker" program looks to be very "techy" to even get it were it should be to function. I am just modestly involved with that sort of thing. It does appear to be very good, just (to me) very difficult to load. I can perceive me trying to load "VobBlanker" and messing up "Dvd Shrink" and whatever - in the process. I do thank you very much for your all encompassing detail and time given me. If I get enough courage, I may attempt to try "VobBlanker". Thanks again ronnies
If you don't know how to use VobBlanker just supply it with a source folder and a target folder and hit process...it should clean up the mess before you are ready to use DVD Shrink.
stumbled on this one to see what we can do to get ronnies up and running with his movies :)
i used DVDFab Decrypter for Flightplan (2.9.7.3 i think it was, though i may have had 2.9.7.2 installed when i did this movie). Either way i then used just DVD Shrink as per normal.
as for the Cave i used just DVD Shrink on it's lonesome.
