When I open a movie in Shrink I have all the different audio tracks in the side window. Now the thing is I always delete the foreign ones but there is always like 3 or more english ones usually one 5.1 and 2 or 3 2ch ones. Can I delete all of the extra ones and just have 1 5.1 and 1 2ch?? Also is mostly everyone else having to compress about 50-60% that seems to be the norm with most of my movies even after I set it to custom and compress the extras and the menu as much as it will let me. Are most new movies just too big for the regular size disc's??
Thanks.
nope, i can back up a 3 hour movie to a DVD5 no problem, sure the compression is like 50% but if i go that much on compression, i use a DVD9.
i never add all the extra audio, subscriptures, or even extras for that matter, and the majority of my back ups are at about 80% or better.
what is it you are trying to back up and are you backing up the whole disk?
what are all your steps?
YOu don't really even need teh channel 2. It's basically just a lower quality version of the 5.1. And if you don't have a 5.1-able set it will automatically downgrade itself.

@Glue... i know you have been told before by a few members, if you dont know what you're talking about, don't reply !! well, now i am gonna tell you !!! what you said there is not 100% correct..
not all dvd players have the ability to downmix channels... ie; 5.1 downmixed to stereo..sure it may work, but the sounds themselves are not accurate... coming from an audiophile (myself) i know a thing or 3 about audio. when watched on a regular tv, a 5.1 signal will be downmixed by either the tv or the dvd player. most newer dvd players support this, but not all, and especially the older units.
the consumer usually is not an audiophile while making dvd player purchases, so they have no clue what it means anyway, and thus, are totally oblivious to what 5.1 even means, much less a dvd player that will decode the 5.1 and turn it into stereo sound.
sure, i agree, do the movie in 5.1.... and dump the 2.1 $ 2.0 audio, but like i said, not ALL dvd players or tv's downmix for that matter !
I never said that you wouldn't hear the difference? I know it's a huge step in quality. All I said was that on my really old player the downgrade works and that I notice the difference.
I watch most of my movies in my home theater the only reason i keep the 2ch is for times when the kids want to watch movies upstairs or in their room. Where there is no 5.1 set up. Just the TV. So I don't need to keep the 2ch if my dvd player or tv will support it. But say I want to keep it anyway to I have to keep all of them or just one because there is so many and they take up like 200mb. I'm just talking about backing up all of my movies in general. I usually back up the whole disc. I just thought that there were more DVD5 movies out there then there was 9 but all the new ones seem to be 9.
you can if you want to keep both, but you'll be ok with 5.1 anyway.
what i was referring to above... thats just cuz i am an audiophile, and sound is everything to me....
the source will still downmix, but to the untrained ear, you wont tell the difference...
or, if you make full back up's, just do a custom compression ratio in shrink for all your extras, menus, and junk, and leave little to no compression on the main movie... it saves more space.
and for things like the fbi warnings and previews... you can even select a still image instead of the actual clip, thus saving more space..
