Majority of my input is in this thread, which is the same best buy verbatim digital movie quality discs:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/297284
PIE/PIF:
We want to keep those little errors down on our backups.I just use these scans-usually PI/PO to find the right speed for my benqs to handle my media. It's suprising how the better scan-less errors- are on the faster burns using the quality verbatim +16x media. I burn according to how my scans look.
Office Depot 8x media is made by ritek. They are the only store brand name media that I highly recommend. Staples/office max/and others I avoid like the plague.Their +16x are coding as ricoh's,still pretty good media. Not sure of the dash 16x?
Office max has the verbatim 16x cheaper than Best Buy. Check them out, they are sweet! 30 cents each, excluding governor's share!

Thanks for the response. So let me get this straight. Office Depot DVD-/+ discs are the only store brands that are great. Correct?
Becuase they come out on special a lot. ?

yes, office depot branded media codes out as ritek.
varying from R01, R02, R03 (the + format) and from 4x up to 8x (some even 16x.. but not 100% sure)
then the G04's and G05's are the - format...
the movie reel disks best buy has are good media, however, i personally am a DVD+ kinda guy, and my burner loves them, not to mention the ability to booktype a + to dvd-rom, whereas a DVD-R, you cant.

Office depot's brand is the only store brand name I trust. I only buy quality stuff, and those OD 8x riteks are sweet. Their +16x ricohs's aren't too bad either. Very good quality media for 20-25 cents each when on sale. I wouldn't pay full price for them!
Quote: Becuase they come out on special a lot. ?
Yes and No:Mainly because ritek makes majority of their media. Both formats of OD 8x are ritek-guaranteed by many of us here.I have not heard of anybody getting any crappy manufacturers on them. I've burned over 300+ of the OD +8x and everyone coded as Ritek-R03 and not a single bad disc.
They are also on sale about once a month. I look for the buy 1/get 2 free deals.Last sale I got in on some 20 cent riteks. Why buy maxell riteks for 30 cents when you can get OD riteks for a nickel or dime cheaper when they are all on sale?

Yep, gear79. You can never have enough good media. I like to keep a couple hundred in reserve in case of drought-no sales for a few weeks.
