Hello all,

I have been burning DVD's for a while now but it seems I am still a relative noob. Here?s my problem. With some of the latest movies namely Cry Wolf, Flightplan, RIZE, Legend of Zorro and Corpse Bride. All of these movies I am able to rip and burn with DVDFAB, Vobblanker, Shrink or Any DVD and CloneDVD2. However some will start locking up during the movie and others won't even play on my DVD players. Now here will probably be the big red flag for all of you but here goes. I am using my PS2, XBOX and XBOX 360 to attempt to play these movies. Also the media I am using is relatively cheap (Sonic 8x +R). I have looked up all these movies individually on this forum and copied them with no problems. They will play fine on my Computers Sony 810 and 710 but my game systems will not play them properly.
I am not sure if I have my ripping and burning software configured properly or players and media suck. If A. I need a new DVD player and B. I need better media what do you all recommend.
I understand this is a long question but I just spent $60 on AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 with the same results and I am tearing my hair out. I really appriceate any help.

Thanks,

Most likely, your game systems doesn't like those medias and/or you burnt the disc a wee bit too fast. Always try to burn at 4x or at the lowest speed posssible supported by the disc or burner. You could try using DVD+R discs and booktype them to DVD-ROM. Some gaming systems might prefer a DVD-R or DVD+R...a little trial and error can help...

Try buying some other quality blanks such as Verbatim, Fuji (Made in Japan), Ritek, or even the popular Taiyo Yudens...

Thanks for the advice. I went to videohelp.com and found the media I am using is the worst so I am already determined to get Ritek (had the highest user rating)next time. I will also lower my burn speed. What does "booktype them to DVD-ROM" mean?

Read this http://my.afterdawn.com/locoeng/all_blog_entries.cfm about booktyping. Also you've got almost $1K dollars worth of consoles there that were not really designed to be a DVD player (but will play DVD's), wouldn't a better solution be to buy an el cheapo from wally world and save the wear and tear on those expensive units?

Thanks for the link Ill check it out. I was thinking of buying a DVD Player as well but I'm not sure which one. I want a player that will play these cheap Sonic 4x +R disk because I have about 300 DVD's on them by now and one that will play the Ritek media I am ordering. Any how does anyone now the optimal setting in Vobblanker to remove Sony's copy protection? A lot of people says it works but I still get that 7 second pause when the DVD is loading that my players can't get past.

Make sure you are using the latest version of DVDFab...it should take care of the pause.

I have upgraded my firmware on both drives. With AnyDVD 5.8.3.1 then DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.7.0 next Voblanker 2.1.0.0 (default settings) then DVD Shrink burning on my Sony 720A with booktyping set at 1x, I burned Cry Wolf and got the same exact results as last time. I put in my player and it recognizes it as a DVD but goes to black screen and it just keeps trying to read. I am at a loss on this one.

Burning at 1X may be too slow...try it at a higher speed.

Thanks for all the help everyone, It's seems the problem was just bad media. I went to the store and bought a 15pack of Fujifilm +R's and every copy I have made with Shrink and CloneDVD2 have played perfectly. So the moral of the story is "If you have a finicky DVD players like game systems do not use cheap media like the Sonic +R.

No AnyDVD, no DVD43, no DVDIdle Pro, no DVD Region+CSS Free.

LEGEND OF ZORRO help? Yes, Legend of Zorro has the latest ARccOS, to resolve the issue, use my VobBlanker combo DVDFAB Decrypter method or follow my new guide for more info.

Here is a new guide that I've made, just follow this guide carefully and you'll be free of misery.

Here http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/271 -- it's called "To backup any dvds with DVD Decrypter, PSL plugins + FixVTS, VobBlanker and Nero Recode 2 by Alkohol". This is possibly one of the best method ever to successfully rip and backup any dvds/movies, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS.

Best of lucks to all, enjoy the guide and happy burning!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.
