Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows how large the printable area is on these discs (DVD+/-R). As in, if it goes right to the centre...

ok, let me add my 2 cents !!
to answer your question, i am sure you are looking for the size of the disk for printer settings.....
i use an epson to print mine, and my settings are as follows..
full hub printables.... 19x120mm
semi hub printables.... 40x120mm
everyone has different settings, but i use these!
if thats not what your after, then omit this post of mine !!!
and lastly......... yes, TDK sux !
but even after all the verbatims and riteks i bought for my dad, the n00b still uses them.... i guess you cant teach an old dog new tricks !
next time i visit him, i am throwing away all his junk media!

thanks for all your opinions... i assumed tdk's were good cause their cd-r are fine enough.
i don't really have a way to get Taiyo Yuden blanks cause i don't shop on the net, and local stores don't have them :( i think i'll look around for verbatim printables..

Are You Sam's Club Memeber? They Have Printable Verbs there..100 for somewhere in the range of $40 to $42 depending on if want the + or - DVD's.. I got the DVD-R's and they are coded as MCC 003 and they burn and print nice.

the MCC003 media id coding is for 8x DVD+R Verbatim media, not DVD-R as you have stated~ :)
just a simple mistake i wanted to point out before smethwyck goes to Sam's club (assuming he's a member) and buys the Verb printables only to go home and find a MID coding different than that of yours..might cause some major confusion in the future
Verbatim:
8x DVD+R = MCC003
8x DVD-R = MCC02RG20
16x DVD+R = MCC004
16x DVD-R = MCC03RG20

Sorry about that ... But they are MCC ..Code MCC03RG20..They are the -R X16 with AZO...They do work very good, no problems so far. I'm going to try the +'s next time.

nah, not a member of sam's club unfortunately..
but i'll have a browse there soon once i get my credit card. the range online is sooo much better than at big w / k-mart.
i think i'll have to do a bit more research into it though. it's more complicated than i thought.
