I have hit the first issue in weeks. The Legend of Zorro copied to my hd just fine with Dvdfabdecrypter. Then, I used DVD Shrink to compress the movie only, and then used Clone Dvd to burn it. This method worked great but when I play the movie in my dvd player, it can't find the beginning of the film, and gets hung up getting to the first chapter. When I hit the FF button, it finds it just fine, and then the entire movie is there without a problem.
Any suggestions would be great as I like to have clean, issue free backups, and the FF hiccup is annoying.
Thanks in advance.

Run the folder created by DVDFab through VobBlanker and process, then run through DVD Shrink.

If you like FREE programs, then do as the following:
<1> rip your movie with DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 or 2.9.7.0 the latest version
<2> run VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 to PROCESS & Filter out any left over junks that DVDFAB Decrypter may have forgotten/missed
<3> import/load into DVD Shrink, Nero Recode 2 or DVD Rebuilder + CCE
<4> burn your VIDEO_TS or ISO image at your desire burning engines
No AnyDVD, no DVD43, no glitches, no freeze, always 100% success.
Enjoy it!!

Using AnyDVD along with VobBlanker, AnyDVD along with DVD Shrink, AnyDVD along with DVD Decrypter and burning movie only I get the exact same result as you. If I place the Movie only disk in a DVD-ROM drive on one of my PC's it starts just fine, but on any of my stand alone players through out my home, it hangs in the beginning just like yours. If I move to the next chapter and go back to the first and hold down the fast forward button I can then get near the beginning of chapter one.
To overcome my problem I just did FULL movie and deleted only SOME of the extra's one by one, making sure they were bonus features only. Trying to delete too much gave me the same result.
I also have the exact same result with The Fog, another Sony movie.
Bottom line, you are not alone on this one when it comes to a Movie Only burn.

I had the same problems yesterday. After reading LOCOENG's response in an earlier thread: and I quote from his thread:
"Uninstall any existing versions of DVDFab Decrypter and install the latest version from here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm
You must remove any previous versions for the update to be accepted."
I was using an older version of DVDFAB decrypter and was banging my head against the wall. I followed "LOCOENG's instructions and it worked fine. After using the updated dvdfab decrypter (free download), I used dvdshrink to copy just the movie and it worked great.
A big thanks to LOCOENG for his help.

Please tell us exactly what you did and used to burn "movie only" for your successful burn and which make of DVD player for your home unit did you have success with.
Thanks :)

Can I use the new update of the dvdfabdecrypter on the file that is already on my hd to clean it up and make it ready for shrink, or do I need to get another copy of Zorro and start again?
Thanks.

Dewras, never mind with what I asked before.
I downloaded DVDFab Decrypter, (for the first time,) and Decrypted the movie; The Legend of Zorro. I then jumped to Nero Recode2, "Recode Main Movie to DVD" and selected Title 1 leaving all English audio, just in case including the subtitle. Normally I just use the 5.1 audio for main movie. Burned it and it worked perfectly!
I just became a DVDFab Decrypter user for all Sony disks from this point forward! :)

This movie has the same long blank spot in the beginning of the movie as The Fog. I did movie only with Recode and Shrink using the Start and End Frames to edit out the first 8 to 10 seconds of blank that is hanging up the movie. I started doing this awhile ago because my players were all hanging on this spot. Just advance a little in Start and End and then do your movie you will have no playback problems.

How is the advance at the beginning of the film accomplished? I have not done this before. Is it in Shrink that I do the advance?
Thanks.

Hey arniebear :)
I tried that also but it didn't work for me. Title 1 would hang up, not move at all, both when I didn't remove the blank or even when I did. I even left and made a sandwich just in case... LOL
Each time I had AnyDVD in the background for all my testing to see what combination would work for me. Recode2 will not let me import a Title from a Sony movie in my DVD-ROM drive so I use DVD Shrink instead unless I decrypted first and pulled it in from the HDD into Recode2.
I'm doing the Fog now using DVDFab Decrypter and will go to Recode2 right after that to see how it comes out.

I found that this method seems to working for me, otherwise the player just sits there like its waiting for a bus. I ripped the movie first to my HDD with AnyDVD running in the background with VobBlanker which blanked the cells, then use Recode and advanced it in Start and End.

Hey, I've been reading through this forum for quite a while and have appreciated the info. but alot of the solutions seem like more than needed... I use Shrink when it works without a prob. and DVDFab then shrink when its a sony movie.... With the movies that have the bogus data DVDFab rips its fine and then instead of using AnyDVD or something running in the background I use an older version of Shrink (2.2), open the files that Fab created, reauthor, then using Start and End frame (to get around the long blank at the beginning) choose Title 2 and back your way up to the start of the movie that way....Has worked perfect every time so far, no problems..... burn your reencode with Nero or whatever works for U...

Well so far so good using DVDfab Decrypter first then Recode2 on Sony Movies. This is a nice compact program and it only adds that extra step like the old days with DVD Decrypter then Shrink then Nero. I still use Advanced analysis with Recode2 movie only and this time deleted all audio files except 5.1 English for main movie. Working like a charm. :)

VobBlanker isn't removing the junk?

@LOCOENG
Yes VobBlanker removes the protection, and Recode makes it through the file, no problem. I just get rid of that stupid pause before the movie. I have an older Toshiba player and it creaks along at that pause. However, on Zorro you get some other error messages on skipping cells, you have to tell the program not to skip them or you will not be able to open the file with Shrink, Recode or Clone. The skip messages have to do with one ILV cell and a Multi-angle.

You can't blank the offensive cells to aleviate the pause?

Just a note:
I watched the burn of The Fog and it had several pauses in it. That's the first time ever for any burns that I've done to have such an issue. For the record, the Nero Quality scan on that disk was 99 so I am very confused. TY+R 8X was the media I used for both.
I'm about to watch Zorro which I also did the same way and will get back here to discuss it as well. I sure hope that it's just a fluke.

what kind of compression did you end up with? Did you use any quality enhancement for the backup?

The Burn of Zorro played perfect!
@ LOCOENG
I didn't need any compression for The Fog since movie only fit under 4,400MB. I'm going to burn The Fog one more time and see what happens. Maybe it was my DVD Player acting up. Again, Zorro done the same way came out perfect.

I had to use dvdfabdcrypt and then vobblanker - however with the widescreen special edition I came across two parts with multi-angles which gave me trouble. vobb skipped them, but shrink wouldn't load the movie, as it complained of missing files. I copied the skipped VOBs and related files into the new folder I had vobb put the processed files and then shrink loaded the movie. I couldn't figure out how to get vobbblanker to remove these, so if anyone could offer any help on this, it may assist others with the same problem.

The Zorro edition I have is also the Widescreen Special Edition and by doing the entire movie, I had no problems when using AnyDVD along with DVD Shrink. The only problem I had was when I went to re-author so as to copy Main Movie only, and that became an issue with me. Using the suggested program DVDFab Decrypter along with Recode2, Movie Only, worked like a champ!

Zorro has ARccOS on it, The Fog has ARccOS and puppetlock which I have found is a harder protection to rip. Eventually when you play with enough of the programs you find the right combo to get the job done. So far the the easiest one to get around is Ripguard, not sure what that was supposed to do but so far you can rip those protected movies with DVDDecrypter and have no problems.

VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 should be able to PROCESS and filter out any left over junks, craps, dummy cells, fake pgcs or encrypted sectors easily. I processed mine with VobBlanker 2.1.0.0 and it went fine, worked 100% as usual.
Off topic here, but it's for buddy arniebear below:
