Hello,

I have been using DVD Decrypter and DVD2One to make back-ups of movies and evything was fine until this week--I ripped a DVD and went to compress it but when it came time to check the audio track there wasn't anything to choose--I tried another DVD and the same thing--usually DVD Decrypt. creates an Audio_TS folder, now nothing.
I have re-installed the program and my K-Lite codec and XP codec bundle and still the same problem. I even re-installed my old version of DVD Decrypter just to be sure. Nothing.Am I missing something integral, something maybe got corrupted? I have always used these two programs and had no problems,. I liked them because they were simple and easy to use, unlike DVD SHrink and Smartripper, those were too much for a newbie like me. Any suggestions? Ideas?
Thanks.

The audio_ts is always empty. If the original dvd doesn't have one decrypter usually doesn't create one. From what i've read older dvd players needed to see both folders to play the movie - this is not really the case anymore. Alot of the newer dvds do not have a audio_ts folder. The audio is in the video_ts folder.

Thanks for replying.
I should have said before that old or new DVDs, it doesn't matter, no audio folder and when I try to compress it with DVD2One there is no audio file/track in the third screen (where you are supposed to tick the box even if there is only one track to choose from) and the the program crashes seemingly because of it. Both of these were working fine until a week or so ago, so I am convinced that I am missing some kind of extractor or decoder file. I knew that the audio folder was always empty but it seemed integral to the process.
Thanks for any and all advice and help.

The audio_ts not being on the original dvd shouldn't be causing problems. Your only ripping from the video_ts. I'm not fimilar with DVD2One but it seems pretty easy. Shrink really isn't that hard and it works well w/ decrypter also. Give that a shot. Here's a guide:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide3.html
So in decrypter are you doing a full backup or movie only and ifo files?
Did anything else change on your pc?

Hi.
I am not sure if anything else has changed on my PC--I wouldn't know how to go about checking either. I haven't tried to use Decrypter with anything else just because I feel it itsn't working correctly to begin with. Up till a week and half ago both folders were there and now only the video file is there and DVD2One is not seeing an audio track and therefore can't doi its job correctly because of it.
I tried the whole disk and just the movie files.
I don't know :(
Thnks for the guide. I will try again with Shrink but it is far too sophisitcated and complex for the likes of me and I dread it. Plus, this could be an indication that something is wrong or corrupted on my pc or that I am missing whole audio decoders or worse. Any way of testing which audio decoders are on system and if they are working as they should be?
Again, thanks.

The audio is in the VOB files. Have you played the movies on your pc? Is there sound? Shrink really isn't that hard! In shrink click on 'open files' then open the video_ts where decrypter put the movie - it will analysis it. When done it will list the movie files on the left and audio files on the right. You can uncheck any unwanted audio there.

I'm back and still confused....
installed both newest versions of Decryptor and DVD2One just out of curiosity
still no audio folder and DVD2One still crashing so I am convinced something is amiss

used Shrink and it worked but for how long? if things can just quit working for no readily apparent reasons then who can relax....?.?.?
I know that Decryptor is defunct but it was working fine and I have NEVER had a problem with DVD2One. I can't find anyone with the same complaints :(

any suggestions?
thnx

My suggestion is stick w/ the decrypter shrink route since it's working.
I'm not fimilar w/ dvd2one but maybe if it only sees a video_ts folder it throws it for a loop? Kinda doubt it but you never know :)
Now the bad news is this combo at some point is going to stop working on certain movies. Why? Well there's new copy protection that these progs can't handle w/o help.
So if you run across one of those here's a link to a guide - everything used is free (except nero which you'll use shrink for and decrypter to burn:
http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-DVD-DVDFAB-Decrypter-...
Or a not free option (21 day free trial though) but handles anything out there and very easy - anydvd & clonedvd. The can be downloaded from http://slysoft.com
And don't worry when you come across one of the movies and need help or need help with the progs just let us know!!
