@brett14
The most important thing left out is what media did you use?
Is your drives firmware up to date? What happens when you put it in dvd player? Error? Does it play in your pc?

what brand of media did you use?? try Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim ,make sure your firmware is up to date without other programs running while encoding and burning and keep your system clean ,disc cleanup and defraging often. your burning maybe going bad also

For travel, lodging fees and an exorbitant sum, I can be induced to come over and fix the problem. Probably be cheaper to buy a PC though. ;) Just a thought, I'd turn the AnyDVD off while burning, though that shouldn't be an issue. Next, are you sure you're getting a complete burn? Assuming the problem is only burner related, use Nero to burn so you have a log. You can download a trial from Nero.com. Once you have a burn and save a log, post it here or in the Nero section. We may be able to see what's happening with that. Also, what brand and model drive are you using and how old is it?

yes it burns completely without any write errors or anything

idk what is happening but ive made 100+ backups with this comp and that media and never had this happen before

heres the info on my drive

i think i could update my firmwire but could that cause any other problems??

actually right now i just got it to work by

ripping the dvd to the hard drive and saving it then shrinking it then burning it with dvd decrypter

so i know its burning but then i tried it again with clonedvd2 and it didnt work

????

Strange business. All you did was segment the process and burn in ISO format. ISO is a more universally compatible burn format, but I've never seen the need for it. Just to see if that is what's making the difference. Try it again and create a file on the HD with Shrink using Hard Disk Folder as the burn option. Then burn it with Nero Express. If you don't have Nero, you can get a trial at Nero.com. Once we know if it's anything to do with the file method, we can make the CloneDVD2 installation a question. As I mentioned, it would be good to see a Nero burn log. If it works with Nero recording files, CloneDVD2 is suspect.

Just scanning through the log, you have read errors from the error mangled source. Firmware does affect the read and write strategy of a drive, so you do need to address any updates required before going ahead. That should be routine maintenance. Check the manufacturer support. Toshiba may have a firmware upgrade. Worth a check. The manufacturer of your PC may have a firmware update. Here is a communication from Toshiba to Fujitsu about the drive you have. It describes a problem similar to yours and suggests firmware as a solution. http://www.fujitsupc.com/www/content/support/ToshibaDVDerror.html

You're burning a bit too close to the edge here, try keeping it within 4300Mb.

Major problem here. You are running too heavy. You're running into virtual memory... Free up some RAM, close everything you can that's working in the background whe you're burning. That includes the firewall/antivirus AND net connection.

Check for Spyware. Spyware can cause system stability problems. I would check-out a free tool titled "Spybot" to scan your PC.

I think permiggs already covered cleanup in detail with links for the software. However, there is one stop shopping for a bunch of it, CNet's downloads, http://www.download.com/ .
