I felt like playing some old school games so I decided to burn myself this emulator and a couple of roms. As I though it didnt work, so I told myself screw that and decided to watch some movie... It would'nt load... Tried some games, originals, backups, anything that usually worked fine, nothing at all, now my ps2 goes to the title screen for system configuration, I try to see if the cd-dvd shows up in the memory card directory and it tell me,can not read dics... Does this mean this !$%?&# snes emulator f*** up my PS2 !?!?

sounds like you used poor quality media on a V12 without a laser fix to me and burnt out the diode. the likely hood that you screwed up the burning of Snes station to the point that it became a laser EEPROM flash is very unlikely.

you said you have a slim PS2 and with your playing backup/burnt games that means it's modded somehow (chip or swap magic) if it's a V12 (the first slim to hit the market, came in a yellow box) then it requires a laser fix to prevent over current to the laser diode. even non modded V12s playing original games have this same problem.

if you used a poor quality media and the unit had a problem loading it crashes the console and this overdrives the laser, if you do not have a laser fix to prevent the over current then your laser gets fried and you'll require a new laser to be installed.

Oh almost forgot the EEPROM part, the laser has a 'driver' installed which allows the console to use that perticular type laser, there are several different types and they require different drivers, you flash the EEPROM to the type laser your going to install and then install the new type, if you flash the EEPROM and then do not install that type laer the console will not be able to use the laser installed and it will fail to read data from the disk.

I got my slim PS2 in a white box like 3 months ago and yeah I got a chip. Media, I always took the same and never had any problems with it. But when I've put in the snes emulator, my ps2 kindda froze there, I could not shut it off, the green light was stuck their, I had to pull the plug out... Maybe that's a sign ???
