I know there is already another guide that is similar. But I swear by this program, as it is an absolutely fantastic all-in-one program for getting DVD's & Transcoding videos into the PSP compatible format.

Before You Start, you have to create a special folder inside your Mem Stick for your Videos to go.

Open your PSP drive up in 'My Computer', and then create a folder named 'MP_ROOT' then a sub-folder called '100MNV01'.

Ok, program is called PQDVD PSP Movie Creator, and you can download the trial here;
http://www.pqdvd.com/psp/

Once you have purchased / acquired a copy of it, install & run it.

1. Insert the DVD you wish to rip.
2. If your DVD doesn't run automatically through the program, go File ==> Open DVD, and locate the drive in which your DVD is situated.
3. Your DVD will run as it would if it was placed in any standard DVD Player.
4. You will be met with your DVD menu, much like this one;

Use your mouse navigate around the menus, Choose whether you would like subs, commentary etc on or off, and choose a specific episode if your DVD is a tv series rather than a movie.

5. There are many other options that you may wish to modify before you begin recording.

Crop
Choose one of the six "film strip" crop modes located at the top just beneath the dropdown menus. It allows you to chop away areas of the video, and is ideal if you wish to create a 4:3 aspect ratio video from a 16:9 (widescreen) DVD.

Resolution
You can adjust the resolution of your video using the dropdown menu located in the far-right corner of the screen.

Audio & Video Bitrates
On the right-hand side, you have the option to change the bitrates of both the Video & audio respectively, as well as the amount of frames produced per second (fps).

For high quality video, I recommend you set these options at

~30 fps,
~128kbps(audio),
~anything over 2000kbps will suffice for good quality video.

6. Set an output folder
To select an output folder, go File ==> Set Output Folder and then locate the folder you wish your converted files to be saved into.

7. Now run your Movie / desired episode by navigating the menu using your mouse to do so.

8. Use the Blue bar along the bottom of the program to set the desired start & Stop point of the recording process. If you wish to record the whole thing, then simply set one point at the begining and one point at the end.

9. Once you are ready, click 'record it'. The recording process can take up to an hour depending on the length of the DVD you are recording and the performance of your computer.

10. Once the recording process is complete, connect your PSP to your PC, and put it into USB Mode.

11. On the PQDVD screen, you will have the option to transfer your video straight to the PSP.

Job Done :-)

Transferring videos to your PSP is pretty much the same process as transferring DVD's to the PSP, except,

a) You do File ==> Open Video & Locate your video, instead of File ==> Open DVD.

b) You won't have to navigate through the menu, the video will just play. You can still adjust the settings accordingly, and once you have, then adjust the bars to your desired starting & finishing point, and 'Record it'!
