Is is possible for a DVD-Rom drive to playback dvd+r but not playback dvd-r??

I was thinking that should be the other way around, but figured some of the experts here would know better than I.

That is Weird. Need more "details" to answer this one. Brand & Model Drive, firmware version, Operating System, DVD Decoder used?
A PC DVD-ROM Drive that reads & plays DVD's should play either DVD+R or DVD-R.

Thanks for the reply. Here is my info:


The DVD-Rom drive Im trying to use for playback is
HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B
Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0

Its the standard CDRW/DVDrom that came with the dell comp.

I am using Windows XP.

And the DVD Decoder...not sure which is considered the decoder, but this is the process I WAS using:
AnyDVD> DVD Decrypter>DVD Shrink>Nero 2 burn.

I usually use DVD+R media, and all of those work fine. When I switched to DVD-R it wont play in the drive I mentioned above. Yet the burns work in my standalone DVD player, as well as my DVD burner drive.
