I am trying DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter and seem to get the same message at the stafe wher they go to Burn (whether using Nero or not)...Starts saying writing Lead in, but never does, can't eject DVD, must re boot PC.

I have the same Burner / Software set up on my old PC and that works fine.

What does this mean? TIA

This could be caused by a drive/media compatibility issue.

1)Update your drives firmware to the latest version.

you can check here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

enter the drive's model# in the search field, if an updated version exists just click on it to download and follow the instructions for installation.

2)Check with the manufacturer's website to see if they provide a media campatibility list for your drive, stick to media on that list.

3)Make sure you're using the most current version of nero, have decrypter or nero write at 4X.

check her for nero updates: http://ww2.nero.com/enu/Downloads.html

@xelak75s
You should also post your last Nero log with this problem. There could be other things going on that this log will show.
It can be located at c:program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory.log (nero6) or c:program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory.log (nero7)
Be sure to edit out your serial # - it begins w/ 1A

I will post Nerohistory shortly.

In the mean time I noticed a differnce between the two machines
In the Device mAnager under Drivers for the LG GSA 4167B - Driver File Details - there is a file called c:\windows\system32\drivers\pfc.sys
It does not appear in my old PC which burns successfully.
Could this be relevant?

I just noticed that the Nerohistory.log file has not been updated for a few days.

I imagine that this points to some other problem as Nero is showing 1% when it frezes and displays the "Writing Lead In" message, therefore not getting to the stage where it writes a History

That's a cd/dvd driver. Other things to check: Check Nero tool kit and see if an aspi is installed and not corrupted. You should also check and make sure you are in dma mode and not pio mode. Check you connections to the drive. Nero tool kit will also list your drives firmware.
Has this pc you now using every burned a dvd.

The latest version is 6.6.1.4

Here is a link to update to the current version, download and install packages 1 and 2 (uncheck the tool bar option). Once the update is complete (just doulble click on each package to install), reboot, try again. Post the log if possible.

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

Note: you can use DVD decrypter to display your drive's firmware rev level as well as have decrypter check for updates.

Since you state you purchased the drive youself, it's safe to assume it's not an oem. So the current version for your burner is DL12 as shown above.

Run the nero tool kit, when it's done you should get a window with a bunch of tabs, look for the one that privides drive info for your drive, it's firmware version will be shown there.

The updates you get from the nero site are free if you're updating software that you own.

In Nero Tool Kit - run Nero Info Tool. There will be a tab for aspi.
What brand of media are you using?

This new problem is due to 6.6.1.4. Shrink it seems can no longer autoburn w/ Nero. I don't know of a fix for this yet. I'm going back to a previous version.
So you can open Nero burning rom and burn the video_ts w/ this that shrink has saved to your hd. Shrink will still autoburn with decrypter so you could pick 'iso image file and burn w/ decrypter' under 'select back up target'in the target device tab when you click back up. You just need to make sure you have decrypter open will shrink is encoding.

The early versions will auto burn w/ shrink - this last one doesn't.
Post back what happens. Hopefully all will be resolved!

What prog did you use for the data disc? Hanging like johnl123 said error can be media related also. Which are you using?
Here's link also for aspi:
