Here's what you do:
1. Download a free 14 day trial copy of SUPER DVD COPY (http://www.dvdtodivx.net/sdcinst.exe).
2. Choose your source file which will be the complete file not just the VTS file.
3. Choose your Destination file which should be an empty one you create on your desk top.
4. Click start, and if it ask you to split the dvd, click NO.
5. After that's finished, close that program, the open up DVD Shrink, choose the "VTS" file this time, create a destination file. This should do it!
6. Then burn it with Nero or your Nero like software.
7. Let me know how it goes!

Ok Louise79 heres what you can do. I don't know if that other suggestion will work, but also specify what DVD it is.
You have two options.
1. Download DVDFab, free. and copy to hard drive, maybe the DVD has another type of protection.
2. Try to use VOB Blanker, free. Run the DVD through the software get the new files and try to shrink it. Works every time for me.

The reason I suggested SUPER DVD COPY is that it's a raw ripping software. (http://www.dvdtodivx.net/sdcinst.exe). It will out perform any software on the market as far as ripping is concerned, then just Shrink it. It does not require any Updates because its not trying to compress and remove protection and the same time. I've tried fab and decrypter, but hands down this software is very user friendly, and it does what the others will not or cannot do. No updates required.
Don't take my word for it, try it, the proof is in the pudding.

@JDaRipper,
"Failed to open file "c:\my downloads\VIDEO_TS.IFO" The system cannot find the file specified""
Shrink looks for this file "VIDEO_TS.IFO", it contains file structure info that shrink needs to know in oder to be able to recognize the video files and display the contents of correctly. If receiving a "The system cannot find the file specified" error message, this to me indicates that the files downloaded are in a different format (usually the case) that shrink doesn't recognize.
could be .avi, mpeg, etc.....

Are you chosing the entire source or just the VTS Files. Choose the source, and set the destination file on you desktop.

1. In the choose movie source section, click the file to the right that has the arrow pointing up.
2. Choose the file, if not, make a file and put what you downloaded in there, then select the entire file.
3. In the choose destination section, click the file to the right with the arrow pointing down.
4. Choose the empty file you have created on your desk top, then click start. If it ask you to split the file say Click No.
That should do it let me know.

MAKE IT SIMPLE....
Get AnyDVD & CloneDVD and buy the license. Don't bother w/the trial. Its well worth the $58. The best money you will ever spend.

Louise79,
Make a seperate folder on your desktop and put the downloaded files "only" in that folder, then follow the process above.

Ponchi1,
I have tried both of those softwares exclusively and let me tell you it's not that simple all the time. I'm the first to say that they are great but sometimes the are not enough. I have copy over 800 DVD's, using Great AZO and Taiyo Yuden media with top of the line burners, and sometimes Any DVD and Clone are not enough. Sometimes it's not the user, but the product!

@louise79
Go back to what john123 stated and make sure your file structure is correct. Yours should contain these three files.
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
Shrink is looking for that IFO file.
