I am using DVD Shrink and using the integration it has with Nero. I am not sure if this should go in this forum or the Nero forum, however, when I go to burn and click the "options" tab in the screen that pops up right before it burns, it only allows me to burn it at maximum.

I don't get this because it has always given me the options, 2x, 4x, 8x, and maximum. I only burn at 2x because I seem to get more errors when I burn anything above it.

Anyone know what my problem may be?

Thanks guys, but that is exactly where I am going to change the burn speed, however, it only gives me the maximum option...

I am using the same discs I have used for the past 50 burns at 2x, so it's not the media...

Any other ideas?

What kind of media did you used? Did you inserted the blank media into your burner in prior to select the burning speed? Have you updated your firmware lately? Try to updates your firmware to see if that'll help to resolve your issue.

Honestly, I've never experienced any issue like that (maximum burning option only) before. Like I said, if you have a blank ready in your drive, then you should be able to select the lowest speed available, in my case I'm using MCC004 and YUDEN000T02 and I can choose 4X easily to burn.

Good luck!!

Ya its crazy...

I updated my firmware last week. I have burned 10 discs since. I am using Office Depot branded disc, but they are good media according to the people in the media forum. Like I said, I have burned over 50 discs with this exact same setup.

Hi there,

If you load your blank media in DVD Identifier, it will tell you what speeds are available (In the firmware) on your burner for THIS media.

If you don't see 2x, it will not support burning THIS media on THIS drive at 2x.

DVD Identifier will also tell you the Media ID of those disks.

Then go here, and see how good they are:

Sounds like you have some defected media. No offense but I don't use office depot brands. The only high quality media I recommend are: (1) Taiyo Yuden, (2) Verbatim "advanced azo or datalife plus" and (3) Maxell (made in japan by Hitachi). Other than that, I wouldn't waste any single penny on any other media.

As mentioned by cougar_ii, can you provided the MID via DVD Identifier?

I highly doubt its the media. Like I said, I have a 100 pack spindle and I have successfully burned 50 of them...

I did the DVD Indentifer and they are: RitekG05

And, what did DVD Identifier tell you about available burning speeds for those RitekG05 on your burner ?

2x and 4x

My burner is only an 8x and when I try to change the burn speed it gives me maximum and 16x...I don't have a 16x burner.
