Is there any way to get around the region coding of UMDs?

Hi guys,
My missus has just come home with Evil Dead 1 on UMD for me. Its a region 2 UMD, and I have a region 1 PSP running 1.5. I put the movie in and tried to load it the regular way, but was told I needed to update my software, which I am not gonna do. I am assuming if I did update my software, i would then be told that the movie is the wrong region anyway.
I get the "need to update software" with a lot of my games if I try to run them regular, and Fastloader does the trick on all of them. With Evil Dead, Fastloader kept freezing after initialising. Is this because of a region conflict, or does Fastloader just not run movies at all?
Basically, is there any way I can watch this UMD, or am I going tomorrow to get a refund?

You can try UMD emulator. It works on all regions.

yeh you could try that
but id go get a refund anyway- UMD movies are a waste of money

you can run umd emulator and set iso emulation off, set type umd to video and region coder overide on ant try loading the movie.

Hey guys,
So I installed UMD emulator v0.8c, and it's all working, I checked it with an iso I have, but I can't get Evil Dead to play. I can't seem to find a "run UMD" option like in Fastloader, and if I set UMD emulator to region free and disc type UMD, then exit and run the UMD from the PSP video menu, it still says "to play this disc requires a software upgrade". So I have kinda given up unless anyone knows how to run a UMD from UMD emulator? I can run an iso fine, but not the Evil Dead UMD.
Its not a big deal as I have the DVD anyways, and the UMD was only £6 in Virgin, and I can exchange it for a region free UMD or get store credit.

Just re-read the UMD emulator readme -
"- Regioncode setup is somewhat strange, works fine for ISOs, but not on original audio/video UMDs"
So I think a refund is what it shall be...

ok you need to upgrade this is true but for future referrence
TO BY PASS THE PSP REGION CODING
1.install the firmware 2.01 2.00 2.50 japanese version firmware update first
2.then run the english version 2.60 update this is of course if you are not a cheap person trying to rip games off from sony but you can still run homebrew using the gta save file trick
3.then thats it
let me explain what happens
when you install the firmware japanese version it tells your psp to play japanese region films region 2 3 4 5 6 basiclly covers
australia,germany and other countrys
then when you install the psp firmware version 2.60 english it locks the region for japan and the u.s on the psp firmware so you can watch all regions
