hello,
1)what is the diffrence between the jap psp and others, is there a diffrence.
2)if u have setup how to play downloaded games is it as easy as drag and drop to make them work

1/ Regions. Maybe other differences that I dont know.
2/ Yes. But you need PSP v2.00 or below to be able to play iso. V2.01 and above, you can play emulators only.

colors psp's from japan come in
black standard and white special edition
every psp from japan can be converted to what every country you live in region by installing the firmware update for that region
so you can convert a japanese psp into a u.s.a psp by installing a u.s.a firmware update

The JAP version has a SHARP screen the others have SAMSUNG. Some say the Sharp is better by a little bit....

I have a Jap 1.5 psp
if i cant play certain umd movies because of different regions,
does this mean i can change back and forth?or is it a once only?

this is once only
in order to get region free psp you need
1. a u.s.a firmware update 2.50
2. a japanese firmware update 2.00
then a us 2.60 if you want
here is how it works
you install the japanese firmware first then install the us firmware after
it basiclly unlocks all regions on the psp firmware but once you upgrade beyond 2.00 you can no longer run homebrew

more important than the brand of lcd screens is the fact that the american version jus has a considerably cheaper screen. The japenese's screen is very much superior in sharpness/clarity.

I have heard of this hack before, but i dare not try it. After i got over the "wow" factor of UMD, it got abit small and now id rather watch a dvd on my tv.

more important than the brand of lcd screens is the fact that the american version jus has a considerably cheaper screen. The japenese's screen is very much superior in sharpness/clarity.
i did try to get more info on this topic before i bought my jap psp. but a lot of people said that it the quality difference was very minor.. anyone got any pics of a jap vs us psp. there was a hoax pic going about...

I just opened up my psp again, this time i wanted to see if my screen was sharp like its sposed to be. I must warn anyone who wants to open up a psp be careful i almost lost a screw and was searching for almost an hour, in the end YES sharp lcd but i still got one little dead pixel.

ok here is how i know this
i redistered my psp at a psp site called yourpsp.com they sent me a umd copy of spiderman 2 in region 2 which covers japan china germany the u.k
and several other countrys but i have a psp with region 1 so i then relized i was in trouble but a great hacker by the name of cooldaddypspf*****23 on a local p2p software found out that he could install these firmware updates in this order and it would boot all umd movies but you need to install a japanese firmware first well cooldaddypspf******23 got in trouble and we where all in shock that he was caught downloading child porn sick f****er and so he is now in jail
and the file was removed on the p2p service well anyways i didn't beleive this eaither untill i tried it i got really p***ed off that sony wasn't going to release 2.00 right away in the us so i finally decided to put the information to good work and downloaded the japanese psp firmware version 2.00 then with the next update i installed the firmware update for the u.s psp and was able to boot my region 2 spiderman umd which i have never been able to do before
so it does work but you lose the ability to play backups and you can only play homebrew so in the long run of things not worth the time
of doing all of this and losing the ability to run iso's

my friend has one[white jap] and we have compared them. and maybe its jus us, but his looks better than mine... i wouldnt say its that drastic as the pic u posted but its noticable
