Hey guys, I have a lil' problem that I have seen before when I try and shrink my movie backup. "invalid data in VIDEO_TS" now I have used vobblanker 2.1.0.0 for other movies the past month or so. This time I opened vobblanker and told it to just process all, but it still came up with it in DVD Shrink and Nero Recode. Any suggestions? I"m a pretty experienced user so feel free to use the lingo eh?

Try ripping to HDD using DVDFab Decrypter first, then run through VobBlanker then Nero or DVD Shrink as usual.

Get DVDFab Decrypter from here for free: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm

I just finished using AnyDVD and Nero Recode to do this movie. There is really no special protection on it, DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter can handle this movie. I bet even Shrink by itself would do it. If you are having problems then clean the disk or take it back.

yeap, i did that movie last week, the key is to use fabdecrypter. i didn't even know that it was a difficult movie to transcode.
fab/recode2/copytodvd did the job without a problem.

PS: that fabdecrypter has become a great program, updated frequently, i stopped using vobblanker which i used to use before shrink or recode2.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I tried to make a backup of Elizabethtown yesterday, but when I went to test it out it wouldn't get past the 2nd (or 3rd) scene. I'd try to skip ahead and it would just freeze up, then I would just let it play and it would do the same thing. I pulled the disk out to clean it off, then when I put it back in, it did the same thing. I just used DVD Shrink with Nero. But I dont know why it messed up like that. Can anyone help me?

The freezing up and/or skipping is usually associated with poor media quality or just simply burning the backup too fast. The other possiblity is a media/player incompatibility.

The first thing you should do is to check with the player's manual to see what media type its designed to play correctly.

The second thing you should try is to burn at a lower speed, start at 4x but no greater that 8x.

Try other brands of media like verbatims (japan manufactured)

When was the last time you checked to see if your drive's firmware is upto date? You can check here:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

As a last resort you can try booktyping the disk as a DVD-ROM. This can only be donr to DVD+R media if your burner supports it. Here's some info on it:

I have backed up several movies and they all play fine on my DVD player. It's just this one. I will try to look into what you're talking about.
