dvd shrinking long movies?

Does anyone know if you can shrink any movie reguardless of length and then burn it with nero on a single layer dvd?

Yes - it can be done e.g., Lord of the Rings movies (over 3 hours) can be compressed to fit on a single layer DVD (movie only at about 57%) and still be of good quality.

Same with TV Series e.g. 4 episodes on one disk.

The backup of a movie doesn't depend on the lenths of the movie, 3 hours +, just the size of the file being backed up and what will fit onto your blank disc.

hey last night i was using DVD Shrink to back up ones of my movies (way of the gun)it was the first time i used DVD Shrink becuz Nero recode wouldnt work but at 95% the movie stoppped on DVD Shrink i dunnno why...im gonna rip it to my hardrive and try it from there do any of u have suggestions??

What was the error message you got? Make sure your disc is clean and free of scratches.

you can also use program called shrinkto5 it allows you to put a dule layer dvd on to a single layer.. you have to rip the dule layer dvd to you cpu frist then tell shrinkto5 where to find it.. the pick the compess. settings you whant and it does it.. with out lossing video qualty.. you can fined this free progam at. www.downseek.com/directory/63.asp

well this disc is definately dual layer around 6.8 gigs but it just froze locoeng and stopped recoding im gonna try and recode it off the harddrive now will report with the finished results soon...

That would of been my suggestion, rip to HDD first using DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter and then run through DVD Shrink.
