Well, if you go to slysoft's website and read the history of changes you would see that it hasn't been updated in quite a while. It's meant to shrink movies that you have on your hard drive or it's an unprotected dvd. Now how you get that dvd to be unprotected or ripped to your hard drive is completely up to you. Whether you use anydvd(slysoft) or dvd decrypter(freeware) or any other means to do the trick, then that is up to that piece of software. DVD Shrink only needs to be updated when it has an error in transcoding or shrinking the dvd, not breaking protections. Now, I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum that use decrypter, shrink, AnyDVD, and CloneDVD on their computer(s) but if you use CloneDVD and AnyDVD you are guaranteed at least 95% of the dvd's you will ever rip will never need any extra software or hassle.

CloneDVD 2 will not copy a "protected" DVD. Not by itself. The latest version of AnyDVD with CloneDVD 2 will back up anything I've seen of late. With superb quality & speed I may add.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Lack of knowledge of how to effectively use a program is not a reasonable justification for bagging a program.
Do some research and use AnyDVD in background.

I think that 95% of the problems people have using these programs is attributable to "user" error, the other 5% due to various program conflicts......:--)

@ Taylor30, many more posts like that WILL get you banned. If you have no useful advice to offer, then do not post!
molly, have you contacted SlySoft? They are really good at helping people out, in fact they welcome feed back from its' customers.
CloneDvd2 & AnyDvd have been able to back up Madagascar for ages. I did it a couple of weeks ago, no problems! I suspect that the problem lies with your PC, NOT the software.

Without knowing the whole i/o error - my assumption is your have a bad disc. These errors are usually media/disc related. Try cleaning it off.
As the others stated AnyDVD and CloneDVD can handle this one. It also what I used. Have you been able to back up any other dvd's successfully?

Enjoy all the feedback, but regarding Stealth and Madagasgar, I have simply used Shrink with DVD 43, and then it automatically burns with Nero 6.0. Copies are excellent. This is what I do for almost every DVD I have backed up - seldom have I had any trouble with copying and burning a dvd, other than Sony's and Legend of Zorro, that I had asked about earlier, but was able to do it with DVDFab and Decrypter and Shrink and Nero. Is there anyone else that only uses Shrink and Nero? Perhaps I should consider myself fortunate - I have done both new and old DVDs and
get great results! However, I am considering AnyDVD to have ready especially for Sony and others, and perhaps get Clone DVD also.

They are several progs that can be used and in conjunction with the newer movies. Sometimes it's not the copy protection that gives the problem - bad press/ dirty disc come to mind. I still sometimes use shrink and Nero - just depends on what protection it has on it. AnyDVD and CloneDVD though has yet to let me down! I still use decrypter, dvd fab decrypter, vobblanker also.
