I would like to copy a small clip / segment / portion / part of a commercial DVD movie as an example for a project (about a 20 second clip). Is there a simple way to accomplish this? If someone could either explain or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Respectfully,

As long as you own this DVD, i don't see any problems.

With Shrink, you could just reauthor the disc (the original copy) and put whatever you want onto the disc you want to burn. If it's a small enough clip, say one particular menu, you could *maybe* fit it onto a CD-R.

Thank you for taking time to reply. What I was trying to do though was to pull a clip out of a DVD I own ... for example.

Say I go out and purchase Major Payne and I wanted to use a little motivational clip from the movie ... how would I just convert the little part I want to use into mpeg or wmv or AVI ...?

Does re-authoring make the movie a popular pc format like AVI, wmv, mpegI/II?

Oh I see, what you mean. No, the reauthoring portion of Shrink allows you to take whatever segments the DVD came with. For the sake of argument, on a commercial dvd, there are menus, main title (the movie), and special features. With the reauthoring method, you can just take the main title, or one part of a special feature, instead of copying the entire disc. Follow?

As for what you're trying to do (or at least, what I think you're trying to do), if you just wanna pull a clip of like 10 seconds from a random part of the movie or disc, I have no idea how to do that lol. Sorry. I'm sure it can be done. Maybe someone knows...

I found a nice program ... freeware ... called Super Fever Link and it does a wonderful job at converting formats.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
