I have been using it years successfully. Now suddenly it is giving me error messages, burning coasters, or saying "invalid or unsupported file format" when I want to burn.

Can I reinstall it? Do I have to uninstall it first? Where is best site to download it from? I run XP, AMD 1.7, 80 gig HD, 512 RAM, use Shrink, & have Nero 1.6 ultra Thanks !

Is this happening with all backups, are you using any other programs to do newer protected movies some of which Decrypter can no longer do, have you made sure your firmware is up to date for your burner, have you tried any other programs to burn such as your Nero and does it burn your backups?

It fails on more backups recently, tho has some successes too.
I have not updated firmware. Because of all these problems I just yesterday had to remove my Samsung DVD burner & replace it with an AOpen I had as an extra.

I have had only spotty success with using Nero for backups in general.

I use DVD for free in backgroung, & its nearly always a green smiley face. Thanks, M 8

Are you using an updated DVD43? You may want to try ripping to your HDD with DVDFab Decrypter which can do the latest protection, then processing with Shrink and use ImgBurn or Nero to burn your output file. Also check and make sure your fw is up to date as this can cause burning problems. Since you replaced one burner with another has this made any difference?

Get rid of DVD43, it is a bit buggy and can cause some conflicts. As arniebear suggested try DVDFab Decrypter, it is also a free program and can be found here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm

I got to agree on the DVD43, I had problems with it. Better to use DVDFab less chance of conflicts.

So far works better after unstalling DVD 43.

how come no mention of AnyDVD?

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

@milly8 or those that needed helps,

DVD Decrypter troubles? Here is a new guide that I've made, just follow this guide carefully and you'll be free of misery.

Here http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/271 -- it's called "To backup any dvds with DVD Decrypter, PSL plugins + FixVTS, VobBlanker and Nero Recode 2 by Alkohol". This is possibly one of the best method ever to successfully rip and backup any dvds/movies, regardless if it's RipGuard or ARccOS.

Best of lucks to all, enjoy the guide and happy burning!!

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Perhaps because AnyDVD is available for purchase rather than free. Mind you, you should support the guys who make the software you use regardless of whether it is forced or optional.

I usually only suggest AnyDVD after the free programs leave me no choice, I don't want to cram a paid proggy down anyone's throat.
